Bone marrow suppression after radiation for solitary plasmacytoma

Posted by lsethia @lsethia, Dec 8, 2024

My 80 year old mother underwent 23 radiations and Linalidomide immunotherapy and dexamethasoen for a solitary plasmacytoma. Now suddenly my mom after a few weeks of radiation has developed water retention and her counts are low- platelets and rbc and wbc. The doctors are suspecting bone marrow suppression. Anyone experience this ?

Hi @lsethia, I moved your question about low blood counts with solitary plasmacytoma to the Blood Cancer support group here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/blood-cancers-disorders/

I did this so you can more easily be connected with members like @helenslack @callie28 @grrranny @kandc317 @maggiejay @4family2023, who have experience either as patients or family caregivers familiar with plasmacytoma.

@lsethia, how is your mom doing? What course of action or treatment is her team recommending?
