Hormone Replacement starting at 75yrs old
Doing reach, I have decided to try HRT with testosterone, very low dose. I’m in pretty good health, but was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rhuematica 2yrs ago. I’m Just trying to make a better life with what yrs I have left. There are so many positive messages out there, and yes I’m on the older side. I have 6 daughters and we have all been doing a lot of reading on this subject. Is there anyone else trying HRT at an older age?

I am 76 and started bhrt after decades with no hormone replacement (courtesy of the flawed women's health initiative study). I am now on an estradiol patch, vaginal estradiol, progesterone and a testosterone pellet. I am after quality of life not quantity at this stage of my life.
It just occurred to me that if more and more women were asking their docs how much current research they were using to consider bhrt for patients perhaps the tide would turn. Why are we not telling our docs what we want?
Because the pharmaceutical industry is dictating the healthcare providers meds to prescribe. The pharma industry is making more money on antidepressants.
I so agree. My 50 yr old daughter went to her female doctor for female issues and doc told her she was depressed and gave her anti-anxiety meds plus told her to also take Vit D3. What the heck!
My smart daughter new that was wrong and was able to get into another doctor plus she called a doctor who specializes in female HRT to get confirmation on what the gynecologist (2nd doctor) she had to gave an emergency hysterectomy. If she had to wait for the first doctor to realize that she didn’t need antidepressant and Vit D3, whose know what she would be going through (cancer)
Makes me so angry .
What symptons suggest that HRT is needed for a 73 year old?
I met with new gynecologist last week for full exam and tests. She said basically what my Endo said. That HRT is for those undergoing symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, etc. I liked her, but it’s the same old school mindset. I may have to go out of state to find a more progressive physician.
My understanding is that Estrogen delays dementia. Do you think this is true for a 73 year old starting it late in life? Some libido would be nice, but that is not my primary modivation!
For "quality of life" are you thinkong of sex life or something else like avoiding dementia.
