Posted by taxlady @taxlady, Jan 31, 2023

I finished chemo April of 2022
I have neuropathy in my fingers and feet. It doesn’t seem to be going away. What are treatments I can do to help get rid of it.

@sh0rtie

my name is Laura Henderson and I have peripheral neuropathy. I believe mine stems from chemotherapy and radiation for cancer. My left side (my hands while driving and the outer side of my left leg) was numb. I went to a neurologist for testing and sure enough my nerves were damaged. I took gabapentin for 2 years and it was no help at all. That was in 2013. In 2017 I learned I had a left bundle branch block and had to have a pacemaker/deliberator. In 2019 I lost the use of my left kidney. Now my feet are numb and it moves to different areas in my legs. Can't sleep at night for the pain and tingling. Does anyone have any idea of what I can do for help?

Laura ... If you haven't already, you might wish to try regular weekly manual, as well as electro-, acupuncture treatments. These treatments have been working well for me. I wish you well. 🙂

Not being rude but you may need to stop reading the internet and look into the real world. Homeopathy medicine isn’t a scam if you see a real doctor who has been trained in it. And medicine itself started out as “homeopathy”. It’s like all doctors; there are quacks there also. It’s a matter of keep trying and self educating. Sad thing are the laws when it comes to pain management and when the pain is unbearable, we all grasp at straws.

Thanks for your comments. Magnalife doesn’t have any harmful ingredients, it is inexpensive ($12-$15) and has helped me with the tingling and numbness. I didn’t say it was a cure, only that I found it to be helpful. I also just started using a prescription Ketamine cream 3x a day that seems to be helping. I also have a TENS and a Quell device but haven’t found them to make a substantial difference. What works for me may not work for someone else. Next month I’m going to see a new acupuncturist who focuses only on the ear. I refuse to give up because I believe there are treatments that can help lessen my symptoms.

My recommendation is PQQ and CoQ10 every morning along with a liquid B vitamin supplement Doublewood makes my PQQ and my B complex.

I highly recommend walking in new balance shoes plus weightlifting with the legs or bench leg presses helps my blood flow it makes my legs feel better. I was on gabapentin and then Lyrica (pain) for a couple years after chemo to get rid of pain, but I got off of all of them, and don’t take any medication at all now.

I am jumping on the acupuncture band wagon. I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) in 2019 and just completed my five year goal of being cancer free.

The neuropathy in my feet has not gone away. It is not painful, but very annoying-feels like there’s wadded up plastic wrap on the bottoms of my feet. Or sometimes like restless leg syndrome, but in my feet.

I finally tried acupuncture for the first time yesterday. It was such a wonderful experience. My feet feel about 50% better today and I will be going back for additional sessions. The added benefit is that I felt so calm and peaceful when I left and woke up earlier and more refreshed than usual.

The cost was $100 not covered by my insurance, but it was worth it to me.

Best wishes to all, Cindy
