In the ER after a week on antibiotics for secondary infection and no c
I just got the results of the blood work and one said I had a very high count of immature granulocytes. Like a fool, I Googled it before talking to a doctor.
I'm here because I was still running a fever after 7 days on Amox-Clav for an infection diagnosed by the color of the flem I coughed up, yellow green. My chest is still tight and I get short of breath after talking a lot or moving at a slightly faster pace.
I've been here for 5 hours for tests. My Pulmonologist said to come to the ER and it happens he's working the hosital this week, this one. Since I got here my fever has been practically normal and my breathing seems better. Also, my blood O2 whent from 93 this morning, to 99 a half hour ago. It hasn't been that high in 3 months! I finished the antibiotics Tues. Maybe they finally finished doing there job?
More test results though, WVC 11.94, sort of high. Hgb 10, sort of low and ANC 9.42, high.
What I freaked out over is the immature granulocytes is a sign of blood or bone marrow cancer.

Do you have pneumonia?
They are releasing me on new antibiotics and medicine for the thrush. Yes, we were all right. And the immature granulocytes means nothing. I'm not the first to flip out on it. I am actually doing better which was another reason to let me go home. I'll report more if I think about it later.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
with me in hospital with pneumonia treated with antibiotics
they mostly relied on CRP which went down from 72 to 34
in 9 days when they released me.
Normal is < 5

That all sounds very scary! I am glad you’re feeling better and hope your recovery continues well and that you feel better and better!

I was on the same thing and they added an additional 3 days (for a total of 10) and finally after 6 days I am feeling better. This cold took a long time to show improvement.
Glad you are better. Hang in there! 👍
No, it isn't pneumonia or one other than MAC. I have never had pneumonia before this. Bronchitis aggravates my asthma; even the doctors would be surprised when the X-rays showed no fluids.
I'm on Levaquin 750 mg/Generic Levofloxacin for 9 days. Today is the third dose, and my breathing is better—there is no tightness when I take a deep breath. I haven't moved around to see if the shortness is still there. Also, last night, I had a temperature of 101. I had to remind myself that it was only one day and two doses.
I am on Amoxicillin CAV but it took 5-6 days to see much improvement. I ran a very low grade fever for 3 days but am feeling much better today (7th day on antibiotics).
Hope you start feeling better soon!
I did 7 days on Amox CAV, and I felt better on day three, then I declined again. I seem to be better today, so fingers crossed.
