I have had ringing in my ears for close to 35 years now (am 76). It's loud about 50%. It's very high, Somehow i equate it with bright sunshine. Never changes pitch. It's much higher than normal sounds. Most of the time, it doesn't bother me. If I am moderately involved in thinking or doing something, my brain seems able to 'ignore it'.

When I am anxiouos or depressed, it seems to get louder. (I think my brain just pays more attention to it. When it first occurred, an ear doctor told me to 'man up' and just live with it. I was/am a musician, although I don't play music loud. When it starts to bother me, I just remember on how many other issues I have to deal with, and my brain focuses on other things The noise never changes volume, I think my attention just focuses more/less on it.

I've been a musician all my life. , I've had ringing (50% volume the last 1/2 of my life. Luckily it's extremely high pitched. and if I can concentrate, it doesn't bother me a whole lot (except for the last few years)

If I'm engaged in something pleasant, I don't notice the ringing. And the rest of the time I downplay it.
