Reclast Infusions: Side-effects & Recovery time
I just had a reclast infusion last week and have had serious side effects. I had the worst flue like aching for 5 days then my lefty arm became full of inflammation in the wrist, elbow and shoulder which caused extreme pain and I lost the ability to straighten my elbow. Ultrasound showed huge amounts of fluid throughout the arm. The right arm is now starting to have the same symptoms. The pain is excruciating. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Neither the ER doctor nor the Dr. who prescribed the procedure knew what to do to ease the symptoms. Both arms from fingertips to shoulder are swollen and neither elbow will straighten. Anyone else have adverse reactions to the reclast infusion? If yes, how long did it last?

Not trying to discourage you but have you reviewed the potential side effect to the Reclast infusion? I did, only after receiving the infusion and feeling awful sore; both shoulders, right forearm, left foot and nausea.
My endo says eventually I will need it. My primary care doc said NO WAY!!!
But did the symptoms eventually pass? How long did it take to recover?
I have never had reclast. They are talking about after tymlos. My primary doc doesn’t use it fir his patients. They all have different opinions on these drugs.
I had my first (and last) Reclast Infustion in April 2024 and I've had constant pain since then. Horrible hip, thigh, knee ankle and foot pain on my right side, which is the side I received the infustion. The pain at night keeps me up all night. I limp now when I walk, have trouble getting up from my bed or chair. I've never had any trouble before this, I've always been very active but now I'm very limited in my activities. I also gained 9 pounds in the first 3 weeks after the infusion and about 6 pounds after that. I'm trying very hard to lose it but still have a ways to go. Don't get the Reclast Infusion, it has ruined my life!
Don't get it!!
I too had awful side effects! Been going to physical therapy once a week and try to do exercise daily. It is some better but some days I just ache all over. At least I’m now able to move my right arm without the help of my left arm and I only wake 3-4 times a night! Try seeking a physical therapist, it can not hurt from where you currently are mobility wise! Right?
I haven’t been the same since I got that infusion! It’s horrible
Yes! At first I felt the same way! It’s been a long ass 6 months! What are we to do? I do not know if the pain will ever go completely away but I do need my life back and will do what I have to do to regain more of my strength and hopefully be in less pain. Do remember, our brain is very powerful! A small ache can become disabling if we let it. The infusion is done, we get the side effects from it that no one told us about. Had we been told, might we have still received the infusion, maybe, maybe not! One thing for sure, I’m scheduled for another infusion in June, nope, is not going to happen. I honestly feel, we need to just get up daily, do what exercise we can to keep our mobility. I am Right handed and I shared with my wife, I’m not going to have someone else wipe my A$$ because of a poor decision that I made.
Please, I know it is not easy, try! Try to focus less on the pain and more on, who is in control here! See a physical therapist and get the proper exercises to help you regain strength and decrease the pain! My pain might never go completely away, I just do not want to take the time to let it control me anymore! I pray you seek help and Relief!
@candy109 you mentioned that your primary doc doesn't use Reclast. What do they prescribe? Fosamax (alendronate)?
