Anyone Overcome ED After Losing Half of the Nerves?

Posted by survivor5280 @survivor5280, Dec 11, 2024

That's my news today after my pre-op MRI, I'm losing half my nerves. The doctor says it's possible to overcome ED but I feel as though I've already lost half the battle.

I'm utterly devastated.

I'm responding as a spouse. My husband's pc had infiltrated seminal vesicles. He was 49, so young. He was not eligible for nerve sparing surgery. I will tell you, and this will sound weird, but he did get slight, partial erections. We have no idea how, but it happened....in time. He tried viagra, viagra with Trimix, pump. Experiment. And don't rule out penile implant. My husband did't want to explore that. I do think as the years went by, and he survived 17 years (with 10 pretty active years), he was sorry he didn't explore that option. But I also want to say, love conquers. Experiment with new ways for intimacy...there are many. You can still have an orgasm. Appreciate that. Talk to your dr about someone that specializes in ED issues. It will be worth it. It's definitely a journey and different for everyone. I wish good health, patience and happiness. You will find it...you're alive and cancer free.

I'm sorry you lost your dear husband, it sounds like the last 7 years were difficult.

I am 71. I had RALP in September and lost one side of the nerves. It is now three months later I am able to achieve an erection with a vacuum pump and also reach an orgasm. You need to regularly exercise your erection with the pump, keeping it "alive," so to speak. I have lost the ability to get an erection spontaneously, but heck at my age, I'm happy I can still get an erection after this surgery! 🙂

Do you notice any indication that natural erections may return? I know it can take a couple of years, but any signs of life at all?

I intend to do everything I can to make my buddy do "push ups" as much as I can until I get back to baseline, but I've not had even the slightest hint of ED my entire life and have been the EverReady bunny since pre-teen years and am hopeful that history works in my favor. I'm lucky since 50% of men my age have some form of ED and I have not, but now I'm going to. At 54 I'm not ready to lose this aspect of my life, at 80 I expect it, but not at 54.

Not so fast, whippersnapper! LOL, 80 doesn't look that old from 71! 🙂

I am now getting "stirrings" and some minor "movement" when viewing my beautiful wife of 48 years or expressing myself to her in a physical sense. No spontaneous erection yet, but it's still early.

Thankyou.

300 bucks??
Don't think I care about erections that much.
Not available down here, anyway.
I search for that & it gives me air compressors & power tools.

Prior to prostate cancer, I had ED that was treated with Viagra. Then I had radiation therapy and the pills stopped working. I am now experimenting with Trimix, but haven’t yet found the right dosing. My urologist specifically said not to use Viagra with Trimix, but I see people here and elsewhere talking about doing exactly that. I’d appreciate any feedback from those who have knowledge, or experience, with combining these two therapies. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure people on here are doing all kinds of things that aren't doctor recommended. If it's me, I'm trusting the doctor over this forum in general. When it comes to advice about recovery or what they have learned from their experience, this forum is invaluable but this line should be your absolute:

"My urologist specifically said not to use Viagra with Trimix"
