How can I help my mom who has Fibromyalgia?
I don't fully understand what it is like to experience her world, and I want to be able to help in meaningful ways. Are there small things other people can do daily that help your pain? Thank you so much!
-kindly, oliver

I think even just knowing you are there and ready to help must be uplifting for your mom. As people vary--and indeed so does chronic pain--you might just sit down and ask your mom what kinds of things she needs. Right now with the holiday season--is there anything she'd love some help with? Is there something she enjoys but needs company & support with? Anyway, she is lucky to have you!
Find an enclosed pool and work in water aerobics. It helps a lot.. l use the YMCA or a college that has enclosed pool sign up for water aerobics. You take the non credit class.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your advice 🙂 I think there are lots of things I can help with. She really enjoys baking, perhaps I'll offer to be a baking buddy!
Thanks again,
oliver
Thats a wonderful idea, I hadn't thought of that. Thank you so much!! I will look into this 🙂
Kindly,

If you can get her a gentle massage somewhere that she could tolerate that would be a wonderful Christmas gift.
Anything to lessen her stressload.
You are a wonderful son and very thoughtful.
I've had fibromyalgia for 29+ years and it's a very complicated & painful journey.
Praying for you & your mom. She is blessed to have you!
Hi there, thank you so much for your response--this truly is a wonderful idea. I can't wait to look into this. I am deeply grateful for you and your kindness so much!! I am wishing you comfort and peace from the noise each day brings us, and I hope something marvelous happens to you today. You deserve it 🙂
Kindly,
Oliver
oliverviolin, What kind words.....so touching. Thank you. Blessings & Merry CHRISTmas. Give your Mom a hug for me!
Oliverviolin, Look up Fibromyalgia on this website. Many (including myself) have written in about what helps. I'm sorry I can't locate it for you.
That’s so kind of you. It’s a huge deal to me when someone is over and doesn’t ask but tells me they’re going to help me out since it’s so hard for me to ask for help. Things like help with chores around the house or laundry or changing the sheets on my bed. Someone just saying “What’s on your list of things to do today?” is a huge help!
@oliverviolin this site has the whole list of fibromyalgia discussions. I’m sure that there are lots of helpful discussions.

Did her doctor ever mention anything for pain control? Maybe you could connect with her doctor and ask for some medication.
