Does anyone using Forteo not use the alcohol swabs before injections?

I always used a new needle. But I had plenty and didn't have any other use for them.
I always intended to use the alcohol wipes, but admit that if I got distracted and forgot exactly where I used it (on my thighs), my reaction was "oh well" and didn't worry about it. 🙄

My ritual is to take a shower every morning and then do my vitamins and Forteo injection along with my green tea. The NP who trained me used a swab so I used alcohol and toilet paper for a couple of days and then decided it was too messy and really unnecessary. It isn't even a part of the instructions that come with the delivery device. In seems so unlikely that the sterilized hair-thin needle would cause an infection. I have been "shooting up" for just over a month now and don't worry at all about a possible infection.

My ritual is to take a shower and then sit down for my morning tea, vitamins and my injection. I used alcohol the first couple of days, but then decided Ididnt need it. My trainer used a swab, but the directions that come with the injection device don't include it in the steps, so I figure it is not necessary unless your thigh is unusually dirty.

@janflute

I would never reuse a needle.

I've seen magnified photos of single use mini needles after a single use. It is no wonder they don't slide in easily. They look like they are shedding their metal. Don't ever reuse those needles. I tell myself.

Don't reuse needles, and do use alcohol wipes. Standard operating procedure.

I stopped using alcohol 2 months ago. Sometimes I use soap/water, but most of the time I just inject .

My kid has type 1 diabetes and we learned long ago that the alcohol is not necessary- from doctors. But reusing needles can cause pain.
