PSA increase: Should I be concerned?
I am 73 years old .My PSA in 2021 was,2.01. In 2022 2.31. 2023. 3.01 and now 3.33..Is this anything to be concerned with? Frequent nightly urination..Also occasionally slightly burns..Can't get in to see a urologist until February..

Mine psa too had a slow, rise, "normal for age 72." But by 3rd yr of continuous rise, and new Dr. Found it was cancer. Don't wait be pro active get 2nd & 3rd opinion.
Hi @over80bob, were you diagnosed with prostate cancer? How are you doing?
Wasn't diagnosed with cancer just my PSA has been going up
@teb829
I see Collen (Director of MCC) has already sent you a post.
You are in the same place I was. I was having steadily rising PSA numbers. And like you it was still under normal range for PSA. However my Mayo PCP did not like the continued rising of PSA numbers over the years.
We tried to eliminate things that could be causing the rise in PSA numbers like long distant bike riding prior to PSA tests and other known aggravations of prostate but did not stop the rise. So I was referred to urologist with a PSA #of 3.75. The medical exam by urologist was negative and also that my prostate was normal in size. He wanted to do a MRI with contrast.
The MRI showed suspicous areas and he advised me that there was a 60-70% chance it would be cancer. Biposies done transpernial with MRI Fusion. Those biopsies came back with worse area at 3+4=7 and then a referrral to R/O. Decipher test orederd came back low risk. Bone scan negative. Radiation only for treatment.
Second opinion agreed with diagnosis and ordered another test. Aa PSMA done, negative. Treatment 30 rounds of proton radiation and my last PSA (1.5 years after treatments) .51. I was told goal was to have my PSA stay below 1.0 with a caveat that my PSA numbers will bump up and down. I still have PSA check and medical appt. with PCP every 3 months and a yearly medical appt. and exam with R/O.
Rising PSA numbers can be cancer or caused by other things and for me and my doctors was important to find out what was causing it.
Just know great outcomes if is cancer if caught early. You may have prostate issues causing your rising PSA numbers and not cancer. I wish you luck.
I am not a medical expert but wanted to pass on my expereince as was around the same PSA numbers as yours with the same concern of rising PSA but still under normal limit.
