Age doesn\'t matter pain is the pain. Support for a loved one is so important. I just reunited 2 yrs ago with my former boyfriend apart for 30 yrs. Love him to pieces but makes me feel sad. I wanted to get a book to read, send articles. Every time there is an issue he gets pissy. So i can relate to you. You say you are looking for assisted living. If $$ is an issue and we all know what that is about. If you are on Social sec disability or your state insurance. You can call the local chapter of adult social services. They will assist you or call 211 and tell them you need resources. Instead of senior living look into subsidized living. There will be a list but take only 30% of your income. Grant, it it is not the tosh mahal but maybe that can help. I to go on the computer keeps my mind busy love my games lol and two dogs a Pomeranian and a 50 %beagle, 37 Boston terrier and 13 bulldog had her DNA done 🙂

I appreciate your suggestions. However, I am not on disability. I am on Social security. I am looking for Independent living. Meals and transportation included to Dr. Church.redtsurants etc. Most of the low income also have children. I could not handle their noise. I am not being snutty, but quiet surroundings help me. The lower income are also in areas of crime. I would be afraid to walk my dogs.

I'm in a senior building ,no children Im on Social security widows pension ,from what I went through I could of gone on disability but it was a smaller and then if I stayed on my husband,s so be careful about this. This Sr.building is affordable and I live in Calif. You can get on Sec 8and live here ,we have a bus twice a month to take us for groceries and other stores.

I was all set to move into an apt under thr affordable rent program, met income qualification but when I informed them that I paid rent for the lot where my 40 year old mobile home is I was considered ineligible. The mobile home needs repairs, etc. it is almost impossible to sell this one bath one bedroom manufactured home where rent is $842 a month with a rent increase every October. My rent increase was $40 a month last year. A buyer would have to pay $925 plush gas, electric.water, trash, sewer and pass through and recycle fees. That almost $1000 monthly. This is not a well kept mobilehome park and the owners live in Laguna Hills even the agent who oversees money spent for park maintenance lives inLakeside. Owners Bonita Paradise LLC corporation don't give a damn about people who make them rich. There are 182 homes and lots here so go figure .

Audry..That is horrible. I lived in Oregon. I had an ocean view,3 bedrooms 2 baths, huge sunroom and garage. I sold it in 30 days. The part rent was $500.00. Park was clean and beautiful. I just could not believe my partner bought a mobile on a rented lot. For what we had, he could have sold it for 400,00 if it were not in a park. I sold it for 130,000. the rent goes up every year. You wait a few more years and my buyers will be paying a $1000 a month. I wish Audrey that you could go to your church and ask if someone needs a roommate. I know we all love to be alone. Thats me anyway. I am happy with myself and so disappointed in some people I have met in my life. I heard someone say today while talking about the boy who shot his classmates, that there is depression covering America. People are scared, depressed and don't know that the government will do next. When we get old, we are controlled by the drug industry. Retirement was great and I love to read and paint. Thank God when my husband was alive we traveled to Germany, Israel and Greece. Many Seniors will never see those places. I was blessed. But the the market in housing fell through. My beautiful 3 bedroom condo with across the street ocean was lost in foreclosure. My husband was a disabled Vet. I fought for 5 yrs to get my widows benefit. I could not afford to fight any longer. And,you what? The people who talked to m at VA were not even VETS. The VA was so screwed up. I should probably try one more time.

Audry, What will you do? You cannot live in a small place like that. You are ill, you need a larger airy place where you can rest. I wish I had all the money in the world. There are so many of us who could use a hand up when it comes to Retirement and illness. I will pray for you Audry.

Audrey I moved from Pa to Ca what a sticker shock for me in the rent prices out here I live in Long Beach in a affordable senior building I had to go on Sec 8 as I couldn't afford the rent 29,000 is the income level in L.A. County. Can't you get rid of your property in mobile home park if your mobile home isn't eligible can't you have the health dept red tag it ?If your a senior call the Office of the aging ,maybe they can suggest something?

Lioness. WOW excellent suggestions for Audrey. My daughter lives in Long beach. She wants me to move there. How much is your housing and what is the name of it?

Thank you Pita girl. They want me to use my savings first. My savings is not huge, but gives me some sort of security that I won't have to live on the streets.

Oregongirl ,City view Apts 3333Pacific Place Long Beach California is 750 for single ,1031 for 1 bedroom. If you get on Section 8 it's about 1/2 the cost.We have a library, computer room, gym community room activities ,but 2times a month for shopping You have to be 62 to get in.

I will check it out. Born my daughter will. She lives in Naples. Thank you
