Lexapro, now having side effects. How's your experience?

Posted by tiffany22 @tiffany22, Nov 8, 2018

Started Lexapro at 5 mg (low dose) 3 weeks & have had a lot of side effects. Still high anxiety, which they have me taking Xanax to help with. Just Upped me to 10 mg 2 days ago, to get to a therapeutic dose. I am wondering if it ever caused other people's anxiety to worsen, before the benefits start?

So i was in the psychiatric hospital for 12 days for brain fog. They couldn't figure out what was causing it, even after an MRI.I just feel like my brain is out of gear. They told me that they think i have Post COVID syndrome, which I'm not really sure is what's going on or because they needed to come up with something so i could be discharged. It's been 3 months since i was discharged and over 6 months since i had COVID and I'm still feeling like this.Ever since they put me on Lexapro in the hospital i noticed jaw pain and numbness all over my cheeks since they increased my dosage to 15mg a day. I even feel i cannot pop my ears and i just saw an ENT yesterday and she said that there is nothing wrong with me.Does anyone think that this facial numbness and jaw pain could be from Lexapro? I'm debating getting off of it, despite i feel it actually has helped me with my depression.

I have had the numbness occur in my left cheek for many years. It comes and goes. I am currently not on the Pristiq that I took for 10 years and weaned off back in December 2023. I never questioned the sensation since I could deal with that a whole lot better than the debilitating effects of depression. I just find it very weird to read of your experience because this is the first time I've heard it reported by another person. Ironically, I am feeling it now today even though I am no longer taking the meds.

So, I'm now two weeks off of Lexapro and I STILL have the facial numbness and tingling! I called my doctor, and they told me that it could take a while for it to subside. Why is this given to anyone?

How is your tingling/numbness now? I started taking 5mg a week ago, and had a little numbness tingling 1 or 2 days, then today I upped it to 10mg and the numbness is top and bottom lip and chin and spreading towards my eyes.

After a round of severe anxiety but no depression ive found myself on Escitalopram 10mg. I've been on it 4 days and last night my 3rd day, ive found im unable to get an erection. Anyone else experience this? Does it get better or worse or am I still in it early enough that I can just quit it and deal with anxiety? Any help is appreciated, positive vibes and thoughts to anyone reading this.

Just an update I took my 4th dose and I'll be calling my doctor tomorrow to see if I can discontinue or what the process is to get of these.
