PSA levels

I’m concerned about erratic levels of PSA numbers over the last 3 years.
3 years ago…..21.9
Last year…..2.9
Current test…..62.48
My Doctor tests in his office lab.

That is a very high PSA level. Have you had a biopsy? What were the results? Have you had a PSMA pet scan?

Do you have BPH?

With such a high PSA you really need to do something immediately, You could have cancer all over your body because your doctor has ignored your PSA. I have heard of this before, one doctor in our Ancan.org Group talked about how his doctor ignored his high PSA long enough for him to have a serious case.

Sounds like you need to go to a center of excellence and get yourself a work up. You can’t let this continue you must be proactive.

a 60 point rise in PSA in one year time is something that needs to be addressed ASAP. When your PSA was 21 did they put you on any medications? If so, are you still taking them? I would go to a different Dr. that sends blood to a lab and get a PSA test out of that office.

Surgical biopsies were done 6 years ago followed up with ultrasound, scans, camera scopes of the prostate. The prostate was normal size with a small nodule on I believe the left side.

I’m on finasteride. He put me on Doxycycline for 2 weeks now, will then retest.

You need a biopsy done now, not six years ago. You have a high PSA now You need to get that investigated immediately.

I think your Dr has a very UN-calibrated lab in his office - and you need to get outta Dodge and go somewhere else…JMHO

I agree strongly. Your doctor's lab is suspect. Have your PSA done by an outside lab and then decide what you should do. You need a rock solid PSA test result you can trust from a highly reputable lab.
