Is 112.5mg Tramadol safe to take with 10mg Cyclobenzaprine?
Dr. prescribed (3) 75mg Tramadol (112.5mg) for chronic pain at night for sleeping, then 10mg Cyclobenzaprine to combat severe leg/foot cramps with it. Is this posing any risk at all to an 86 year old woman? I took them together for two nights and noticed no improvement in cramped muscles. I've stopped taking the Cyclobenzaprine when they are not effective and there are toxins in every medication. Trying to find out if the risks outweigh the benefits (no change), but possibly needed to take them longer? Not a pill fan, so am I being too careful?

Both of these are sedating medications, so taking them together MIGHT be problematic. It is a good idea to ask for professional advice.
This is an excellent question for your pharmacist, who can advise you of any potential risks from taking these two medications together, along with any other meds you take, including supplements and over-the-counter items like aspirin.
IIRC your doctor should know, but the ultimate responsibility resides with the pharmacist. I expect that they should call your doctor to confirm.
Anyway, a simple search suggests that if you get the go ahead PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Also 3 x 75mg of Tramadol is 225mg and not 112.5mg. Are you cutting them in half for some reason?
Thank you Sue. I was reluctant to go to my gp as he prescribed both, but I will talk to my pharmacist as I also take Tylenol Arthritis. Thank you for that suggestion.
No taking all three. Two do not put me to sleep. Three also put me back to sleep after numerous waking from leg cramps. Have to get up to relieve them.
Also the cyclobenzaprine that I took for three nights did not relieve the cramping at all. I no longer take them.
I’m sorry you are dealing with pain and sleeplessness.
I take 100mg of Tramadol and 10mg Cyclobenzaprine
three times a day. I’ve been taking this amount for several years and I am still in chronic pain. I don’t think these medications do a thing for me but it will take time to wean off of the Tramadol.
FYI I take 225 mg Tramadol and it is very effective in easing pain through the night so I can sleep. But I findv10mg of Cyclobenzaprine totally ineffective in easing my muscle crampongvandb10mg is a strong dose. Due to the warning against this combination and the dosages I will not take cyclobenzaprine at all.
Suggest discussing with prescribing doctor and/or the pharmacist filling the prescription .
Thank you.
I was taking 100mg of Tramadol 3x per day for a long time, but quit after a partial nephrectomy in August. Wasn't really that hard to do. After I was prescribed oxycodone following lumbar spine surgery in 2021 I started getting letters from my prescription carrier about opioid addiction. Took just one of the oxycodone and never needed another.
Seems like some folks can tolerate certain combined meds better than others. If it won't interfere with your daily activities you have nothing to lose by trying.
