Hormone Replacement starting at 75yrs old

Doing reach, I have decided to try HRT with testosterone, very low dose. I’m in pretty good health, but was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rhuematica 2yrs ago. I’m Just trying to make a better life with what yrs I have left. There are so many positive messages out there, and yes I’m on the older side. I have 6 daughters and we have all been doing a lot of reading on this subject. Is there anyone else trying HRT at an older age?

It took me two years and four doctors to get an Rx for hormones. I'm on two other boards similar to this one. From what women are saying on other hormone boards, the average time it takes for a woman to get an Rx is three years and four to five doctors. Most women are now turning to telehealth for hormones, and they are getting what they want. I did the same. Some of them take insurance for a visit and others don't. Mine doesn't but they will send you a super bill with all the information so you can fill out the health insurance papers to get a reimbursement. They send your Rx to your Pharmacy and any blood lab work to be done is sent to your lab. The two years I spent trying to find a doctor who would help was exhausting. Go with telehealth doctors who specialize in hormones. You will get what you want in a short amount of time.

Can you name a telehealth doctor to contact about HRT for a woman in her 70s?

I wished now that I didn’t go off HRT when I was in my early 50’s. Starting again at 75 is very late, I’m doing an experiment to help other so if all is good or not I can voice my thoughts

I am 76 and started bhrt after decades with no hormone replacement (courtesy of the flawed women's health initiative study). I am now on an estradiol patch, vaginal estradiol, progesterone and a testosterone pellet. I am after quality of life not quantity at this stage of my life.

I’m near Duke in Durham. I have been seen by Duke Integrative several years ago, but for a different situation. It seems my insurance didn’t cover it though. I can’t recall. Perhaps, it was just the acupuncture that wasn’t covered. I am conveniently located in the triangle Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, though UNC is not in my insurance network.

It just occurred to me that if more and more women were asking their docs how much current research they were using to consider bhrt for patients perhaps the tide would turn. Why are we not telling our docs what we want?

Because the pharmaceutical industry is dictating the healthcare providers meds to prescribe. The pharma industry is making more money on antidepressants.

I so agree. My 50 yr old daughter went to her female doctor for female issues and doc told her she was depressed and gave her anti-anxiety meds plus told her to also take Vit D3. What the heck!
My smart daughter new that was wrong and was able to get into another doctor plus she called a doctor who specializes in female HRT to get confirmation on what the gynecologist (2nd doctor) she had to gave an emergency hysterectomy. If she had to wait for the first doctor to realize that she didn’t need antidepressant and Vit D3, whose know what she would be going through (cancer)
Makes me so angry .
