Back Injuries & Treatment - Introduce Yourself
Let's talk about back injuries and the surgical and non-surgical treatments members have used to address them.
As the moderator of the Bones, Joints & Muscles group, I noticed that several people were talking about various back injuries, pain, and management, but those discussions were scattered throughout the community. I thought I would start this discussion to bring us all together in one place.
Hello @dante, @grandmacheryl, @edieguinn, @grammyx4, @hosta and @kathyv. I invited you to this conversation because you have discussed back injuries, pain, or surgery recently. @dante was concerned about back surgery and wanted to know if anyone had gone through it and could share his or her experience. @grandmacheryl was also interested in surgical and non-surgical options regarding back injuries.
I wanted to make it easier to Connect members talking about back injuries and treatment options, so please feel free to introduce yourself and tell us a bit more about yourself.

I have so many problems with my back. I had my first surgery at age 19. removal of a disc in the lumbar area, . I had a baby three years in a row which was hard on the back. Then another surgery when I was 32 another disc removed in the lumbar area. Then things went well for a few years. Since then I have had so many injections I have lost tract. I had Kypho-plasti in the thoracic region.I fell in July 2015, was told that nothing was wrong. I hurt so bad and got where I couldn't breath. Had a chest xray in 2016 and found out I had 3 compression fractures in the thoracic area. By that time I was told that it was to late to do anything. I also have osteoporosis, degenerative dis disease in the lumbar area,COPD/OSA, and other things. I am on fentanyl and tramadol for the pain. But I still hurt so bad. I keep praying that something can be done to help with pain like this.

1 ReactionSorry to here of so many things happing I have many issues going on it started 16 years ago just finding out now the surgery went wrong sick of it have been telling them it or I wounded have cronic pain do you havve the same issues and they cant figure out why so many issues with small bowel obstructions they cant figure out thanks you for sharing your storie and letting you know mine

My doc recommends a spinal chord stimulator. Are they uncomfortable when implanted?
They are not uncomfortable. I had one, but it didn't work for me. I had it in for about 3 years. I fell and they could not do a MRI because of the pain stimulator. By the time I found a doctor to take it out it was to late to help me. They found I had 3 compression fractures in the middle back and was told nothing could be done. I am in constant pain. I hope the stimulator works for you!!
I couldn't have one because my spine is too curved but there are manufacturers thst have them thst you can still have an MRI. Sorry. I forget which ones. Talk to your doctor
