Congrats Linguini. I understand that mental therapy is not easy to find the right person to help and if there even taking on new patients. There is definitely a gap for help in this area for TPLANT patients. Meds Meds Meds... You hopefully will be dropping off more meds soon in the 4-6 month marks. These meds are definitely effecting me mentally. I have never "meditated" before. Air pods with noise cancellation, soothing music on Spotify, and stretching out muscles (not my core) has helped me and relaxed me. Sometimes it is the best 30 minutes of my day. BTW-love your Mayo handle name. Best wishes.

@linguini, Hi and Welcome to Mayo Connect. I want to offer my condolences on the loss of your mother during your recovery. That is not an easy thing to experience at any time in life, but must be especially difficult during the mental and physical turmoil of the transplant surgery and recovery.
@linguini, It is not unusual for a transplant recipient, even under the best of conditions, to be depressed or have strong emotional and mental struggles after surgery. It makes sense when one consider the strong medications that we need in the early weeks and months. Linguini, I commend you for seeking input regarding help in dealing with your grief. Have you discussed this with your transplant team? They need to be included in the conversation. They want to be certain that your medications are not adding to your depression. Maybe they can prescribe a short term medication, or arrange for some therapy during this difficult time. Does that make sense?
At 3 months, you are just getting started with adjusting to that new liver. You deserve support and encouragement from your team. When do you see them again?
