Does anyone have pain in their hip and back ?
I am having a horrible time with my right hip and my lower back ! I have found that not trying to walk has helped me. But I realize that I cannot keep going this way ! I am so tired of walking (and looking ) Like Quasimodo !I have been told by my neurosurgeons PA That I have a small bulging disc , my physical therapist has told me that he can't help me and every time I saw him for the last 3 -4 weeks ,he was having to put my S1 back in place . I even called my pain management team and was told that he had no openings until my scheduled appointment in January ... They told me that and I just burst out crying on the phone ! I was getting pretty desperate Next time I get this bad ,I will go to the Er. Of all of the medical people I have seen so far ,not one of them has even said a word about my pain levels at all !
On the 6th of December I have another appointment with my Orthopedic Dr.

It sounds like you have spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication like me. It can cause pain/numbness/weakness in lower back, hips, buttocks and legs. It is worse when walking and standing and improves some when sitting.
I hear you about being ignored when dealing with pain and poor quality of life. You do become desperate for relief. I had decompression and fusion surgery in August 2024 on L3-L5 and still dealing with back/hip/buttock nerve pain and weakness. I was told it takes a year to fully heal from surgery but I would expect more improvement by now.
Have you had spinal injections or used pain patches/creams to help with pain? They helped some but now need better pain management than I am getting. PT hasn’t really been too helpful but I do try to do some of the exercises at home. I may try a different PT location and may need more advanced pain management because I am really limited in functioning daily. I am a single parent of a teen son and really struggling at the age of 55 (what will it be like when I am 65, 75 ?!).
I don’t blame you for going to the ER when you are in excruciating pain, especially when not receiving timely care by your current providers. They should be prioritizing you to get care sooner.

I feel as if I'm looking in a mirror today. I am reflecting your pain ...not only
with empathy, but literally. Sometimes the pain in my back and my right hip
("Yes" my right hip) are so severe, that tears are inwardly brought to my eyes.
But, what's the point as the only thing I'd accomplish ...is a wet face.
(I hope I made you smile).
I'm using pain patches which are no fun to apply. If I get a smidge of relief,
it's worth the effort. I use a heating pad and at times an ice pack belt. Getting
around is difficult as I try not to sit too much ... even though that's a grateful
few minutes of relief. Doing important daily chores are draining as it's hard to walk.
(Do I sound like you?) A wearable heat belt helps to get around while doing things ...
so as not to trip on an extension cord.
With it all, every morning I welcome the dawn, and so thankful to see the new day
... and to thank G-d for letting me part of it. And so, dear Clipper Two, let's keep on
keeping on, hoping for pains to subside and grateful for each new day.

I'm having the same problem that you are. I have been to a spinal surgeon who put me in touch with a pain and management doctor. So far I had two Vertiflex procedures done that were no help along with six nerve blocks again no help. I also had a procedure where the doctor drilled into my backbone and burned the central nerve, again it was no help. Now I'm planning on seeing another doctor in a spinal clinic in Huntsville Al. I feel your frustration and pain, At 73 I now walk with a cane just in case my leg gives out and it helps with the pain in the lower back.
@clippertwo Did your physical therapist show you an exercise to realign your pelvis? I have had a similar problem, and when the SI joint has some laxity, it allows the pelvis to change shape. That of course will yank on other muscles in the back that attach the pelvis to the spine, and it is extremely painful and exhaustive. I know that often we all sit too much (me included) and hip flexor muscles get too tight. That pulls forward on the pelvis and can help contribute to this problem. Ask your doctor and/or PT to show you exercises and stretches that can help you align the pelvis. You may need to do this often.

I like your name we definitely all need prayers! Have you tried the Salon Pas roll-on it’s easier to put on than the patches and you can cover more than one spot or larger areas

I do use Salon Pas, but haven't tried the 'roll on' yet. At times, I feel
that a mere 'roll on' may help . Yet today, I may need the size of a
paint roller! (Not a bad idea). Gotta smile through it all ... with prayers.

I have had chronic back pain for many years due to a high school football injury. After 50 years I am relatively pain free due to a variety of procedures. An L5-S1 fusion to stabilize helped, but then SI pain started. Physical therapy helped, but was always only temporary. I finally had my SI joint ablated and also underwent basivertebral nerve ablation a month or two later. Finally I am relatively pain free. However daily exercises for core and SI joint stability as well as stretching hip flexors definitely are a must for me. I also found riding a bicycle helped tremendously with hip pain. Walking also helps. The more I sit the more it hurts.
I want to add that I play a lot of golf and some doctors have said that golf contributed to my back issues and for several years I could only play sparingly. I now play everyday, year round, weather permitting…keep moving!!
@prayersforall Hi! I used to use Salon Pas until my doctor prescribed me with the 5% lidocaine patches. They really work much better!!!
