Me and my wife made our eyeglass / contact lense visit and both got diagnosed with small Cateracts. So we made the visits to the Opthalmologist and she was diagnosed with a macular hole. Her Cateracts were put on hold. I got both eyes done for Cataracts and she got her Macular Hole surgery. So we found out some doctors don't do any face down or face up recovery. She has to do 2 weeks face down. Hole closed so success there . I could have waited several years on my Cateract surgery except for pre-surgery except for a lot of glare during night driving. I can see like superman after surgery but it didn't clear up the glare and added to the original glare is Maddox Rod syndrome which produces its own glare. In a month or so I will be having a Yag laser procedure which has a low percentage of side effect chances. Both eyes have a capsular wrinkle which the Yag laser is supposed to even out the wrinkle . My reply is mostly to convey the eyes are a miracle and can be an adventure. Please excuse any type o' s . In the airport on my cell phone.
I have been trying to keep up with it but daily life keeps interfering lol.
I'm reluctant to have surgery as I have been assured from two different surgeons that the hole would be closed. The question, is how well will I see? The area where the hole is closed could be wavy and lead to no improvement in my vision. Instead of a hole, that area would look like swimming in a pool with your eyes open.
There was one comment from someone who had it done, and he lost his peripheral vision in that eye
Then there is a question of night driving and glare.
I've just been quite reluctant but if my vision continues to fade I may have to take the chance and get it done and hope for the best.
