Dealing with multiple GI issues
I have been adding new diagnoses to my already numerous this past six months. My former gi dr just thru meds at me mostly. So about 11 years ago I got diagnosed with redundant colon and IBS-c (which sometimes I think is a catch-all for who knows what's wrong with you LOL) when I started following the low FODMAP diet loosely (onions and garlic are out for sure.) Two years later I had severe lower chest pain and went to ER, where I eventually diagnosed with EOE, gastritis, hiatal hernia. Put on prilosec then and still on them, top dose now. Had my colonoscopy 9 years after the first as I was having issues again and got sent to specialist colon dr as I have flat large precanerous polyps that took 3 more colonoscopies (4 in 20 months), and the last two were two day preps with two gallons prep that I could only get 1 1/4 down both times. On a yearly schedule now, sigh. I was having issues with swallowing again this past June and had another endoscopy where gi dr broke a Schatzki ring at the bottom, and showed an erosive esophagus, no EOE. I also saw a couple of ENTs shortly after as I was having vocal cord issues (from long Covid in the spring), and turns out I have LPR, and acid reflux is hitting my vocal cords. I switched to a larger practice who did three tests - ph impendence (119 weakly acidic events in 24 hours, some up to my vocal cords, on meds), esophageal motility which showed gastroparesis, and manometry which showed inefficient esophageal motility. I was too complex for them so I am being referred to a university center. I also met with a dietician who helped me figure out how to deal with these conflicting diagnoses! I am eating very little solids, granola in am (to keep me not constipated but gives me heart burn) midmorning a homemade muffin or similar, soup which I just stopped pureeing for lunch, Owyn protein drink for mid afternoon, and a smoothie for dinner. Avoiding as much acid foods and drinks as possible, only drinking alkaline water. Just wondering if anyone else has similar multiple issues. And what anyone has found that works! I am on a new med for the motility issue, bethanechol which hasn't helped much yet (bloating still bad.) And I have lost almost 30 pounds in 4 months, needed to but not sure when it will stop.

I’ve had all the tests , did that one Gastric emptying study 6-7 years ago .
Many endoscopy’s and colonoscopy’s through the years . Last one Mar 2024 w/ biopsies.
I’ve even been to Mayo Clinic Jax for some tests that n 2021 .
All same diagnosis,
Gastritis , Esphogitis , GERD , small hiatal hernia , diverticulosis all over colon , small benign polyps on stomach lining ( flat ), IBS -alternating, 1000’s deep wet belches and non stop churning gut , nausea at times and throw up at times , chronic fatigue, Fatigue , PVCs , or high to low heart rate daily , barely eat anything.
It’s def ruined my life 11 years and getting worse.
I have CScan tomorrow Again .
Nothing and no one can help me .
I even talk to a therapist now and then . Done whole holistic approach too .
I sure hope they find out why your belly is so distended!!!
Keep me posted ok ✅?
God Bless … 🙏.
Thank you & you be blessed as well. Medical answers is like extracting a tooth. Or same as mental illness there's 100's diagnosed & misdiagnosed & given this n that & we'll land on one that works for you. Diets. Exhausted tests. I do need maternity tops, no joke. At least when we're pregnant, get uncomfortable, but you know relief is coming. This is repetitive. Years. Not slamming any communities. Drs are more advanced in transitioning & all edu for that & here We are sitting, wishing, hoping, praying the next test has to be the solution.
So true .
If they could only live a day if our lives .
But they don't. They live in fancy homes, fine cars, & eat the best. But I have to suggest time for dietician. I'd like a gastric emptying test. Oh thats gonna be the ticket. That's coming this Monday. Hit my chart by Tues or W. I think I ought to start checking credentials are they pro or quacked
@cheyne you're the Cheers kid on the block 😊 .I wish you well, Wellness.
Does anybody w Redundant Torturous colon get distended like this? I prolapsed anal 7/4 & let freedom ring. Rectopexy surgery. PCP follow up & dr offers tetanus shot. Same dr who put me on Colesevlam 625mg 3x day w Dicyclomine 2x day. From Dumping syndrome for 4 y's to C. 12/2023. I had an appt. Told doc I've 🛑 3 days. Stop if you get rx for this at 2-3 d's w/o bm. No he did not tell me that. Been in since. Going 1x every 7-10 d's. GES stomach is emptying fine. W swollen intestines & yes to crackers, applesauce, boost, gatorade, squash. All soft food w/o fish or chicken to digest, let's see how this works. w prenatal vitamin, super B & vitamin D Artichoke root 8000mg. for digestion & 4-8mg ondansetron for
nausea. God help us. There's a place to come clean
@rozy288 last thing to go for us I'm told is our mind. & the last thing that went through the fly hitting the windshield was its ass. that's a joke dearheart. My LFT liver enzymes in my blood work look fine. For 4 months i got up every a.m to look for yellow of skin pee Coca-Cola n poop white. But I didn't. I've been spared bad liver & diabetic gastropresis but I'll take anyone's advice re natural home remedies. If you like black licorice use 2 Stash black licorice tea bags & relax. No tvs or phones on b4 bed. We need rest to have better tomorrow
Home remedies re Redundant long torturous colon. GES tested Negative. Asked did I set myself up for false negative? Because I fasted W- Mondays test appt. Occurred to me the day after test. Called Neuclear med imaging & they said to end the insanity they called X-ray & both said No. I think it did in retrospect. If I went in there w stomach distension huge & swollen intestines the Food would not have any where To go & wouldn't digest Fast. Now I'm restricted from textures. I've enjoyed textures in food. But I'll savor mush & feel blessed. There's so many debilitating diseases, syndromes, & just when I think I'm on the right path, I'm not, but I know the One who is. Cheers, Cheers
Hi,
Strangely enough I used to have the house, cars etc and discovered I didn't need any of it. Still have a new car but something plainish that does what I need of it. I actually built my mansion believing it was what we wanted. Trouble was we needed a road map to find our way around it! Finally the penny dropped average houses can be fine, they keep the rain and wind out just as good and less maintenance is required.
After years of the insinuation that my problems are psychological in nature and almost believing the "doctors" the proof is in from a MRI scan. There are physical reasons for my health issues. You can bet there are going to be some red faces when I see my so called doctors net week. I may do some crazy things but I'm not crazy thank God.
Contemplation of what to do with the big switch is again on my mind. If I can't get the medical help I want and kind of expect, then will I stop and reject all medication to help nature to take its course. I guess if I decide to use the big switch then I'm kind of proving the case that I'm nuts to them anyway! Murphy's law.
Cheers
Righteo. My husband sees me distended & says you can't drink a bottle of water on an empty stomach w/o blowing out. You can't make this s☆☆☆ up in your head! I ask for a .05mg klonopin & cut that in 1/2 & doctors do not want to give any comfort. While we're eating, walking, drinking properly or when bowels 🛑 from aggressive action taken on drs part & then not telling me the pt to 🛑 taking the med, the tables turn. Who is what. & has botox signs all over his office. Great! That's what I'm in, a plastic office. I go in to have my prolapse checked & he offers a tetanus shot. Really. Whose got screws loose
