@brittany123 Great to know article passes muster with a scientist! This is something I have wondered about as science has been working on regenerating or engineering new tissues and/or organs. Why not for inside the lung?!

My understanding is that bronchiectasis is not considered rare but rather uncommon. Common respiratory conditions are asthma and COPD. Bronchiectasis is getting diagnosed more because of improved imaging technology. I read that bronchiectasis affects 1 in 500 adults but as many here have experienced it often remains undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.

it can be estimated. They are checking e.g. CTs for cancer
and occasionally find bronchiectases.

It's also maybe more common in China where they have
problems with air-quality
