Reoccurrence of colon cancer

@azlinda

I have had a similar experience. Stage 3 diagnosis in Jan. 2015. Chemo 5-fu for 6 months. Scan followed showing no cancer. Six months later a pet scan showed hot spots in clavicle, liver, abdomen and lung. The doctor I was seeing gave me 6 months to live.
I called Mayo and got in two weeks later. Treatment started in July 2016. It is now Dec. 2016 and pet scan shows no cancer. I'm told it will come back. Can this be cured?

Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect @azlinda! Thank you for sharing your similar experience.
I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis but prayers to you and that your PET scans continue to stay clear!

I hope you find Connect to be a place you can frequent and get information and support from other community members. @retairforceman @ilene1 @overwhelmed @grammyx4 , can any of you comment to Linda's question? Perhaps this would be a good question for your provider too.

@azlinda, how often will you have to go in for return visits with your physician? every 3 months to do another PET?
