Has anyone had a vaginal cuff tear?

Posted by mackaymouse @mackaymouse, 23 hours ago

I had endometriosis and ended up getting a hysterectomy. They left my ovaries in and it was the best thing that ever happened to me! Fast forward 30 years and boom I start feeling like I had been impaled and was bleeding from my vagina. My G.P. did a vaginal exam and told me that my vagina was very badly atropied and figured out that my vaginal cuff had torn open.
I am terrified and am waiting for an emergency appt to a gynecologist!
I hope someone here can talk to me and tell me what to expect.

@mackaymouse, I get that you are scared - terrified to use your word. @sharibano posted a similar situation here:
- Partial hysterectomy and still having menstrual cramps

A vaginal cuff tear can occur any time after a total or radical hysterectomy, even years after the procedure has taken place, especially in women who are postmenopausal.

It's always scary to hear when your GP recommends getting an emergency appointment with a specialist. But this is good that you will be seen quickly. They may recommend surgery to repair the vaginal cuff.

Do you have an appointment with the gynecologist?

Not yet, I've been waiting to hear from the Gynecologist. My G.P. has been doing as much as she can. She has already ordered 2 ultrasounds, 1 lower abdomen, 1 vaginal. We are waiting to get the results. The ultrasound technician left the wand in and went to get a college and that is never a good thing.
I am terrified of being put under a general anesthetic, I am on Lyrica , methotrexate, tramadol and saw the FDA warning in regards to Lyrica and analgesics. I just need someone that has gone through this to talk to and I will reach out to the subject you reccomended. Thankyou for answering so fast.
