Looking for heating pad as hot as boiled cloth therapy
Looking for heating pad as hot as boiled cloth therapy. I was thinking of boiling terry wash rags and then applying them on my sore ankle. What are the Good and Bads of this? Is there a brand and model of electric heating pad that gets as hot as this? The heat of the boiled cloth would dissipate rather quickly. When my ankle starts hurting again I will try it unless I can find a really hot electric solution. Thanks for any info you can provide. Take care.

I'm not sure if this would help you but I use socks filled with rice as heating pads. I pour the cheapest (uncooked) white rice I can find into a pair of really soft fleece socks and tie off the tops of the socks. I microwave the socks (they can get as hot as you want!) and then kind of mold the hot socks on my sore spots. The heat eventually dissipates but it does last quite awhile. I have TMJ and I'm sure I look ridiculous with rice socks wrapped around my face but it really works!
There are heating pads that are called "moist" heating pads and they work the best. Moist heat penetrates better than dry heat.
Remember when chiropractors used Hydroculator heat? They had very hot water in these units and would put packs in them and then wrap the hot pack from them in a towel and apply them to you. Not many places have these anymore to be honest. They still had them when I worked in the health center years ago.
If you can find a moist heating pad online, I think that would be great. I personally like the Bedbuddy heat packs that you put in the microwave. I buy these from Amazon for about $11. It provides moist heat, BUT, they only stay warm for about 20 minutes. You can wrap these pretty much around any part of your body that is hurting. You have to be really careful with these as you could burn yourself they get so hot.
Praying for you. Blessings & Happy Thanksgiving.
Bed Buddy @ Walgreens. Binsen's in Mi. home health care & medical supply offer a high priced microwavable heating pad.
Be careful with using an extremely hot heating pad for long periods of time. I was using a hot "bed buddy" type heating pad on my neck and shoulders every day. I developed a strange skin discoloration, described in this article, and had to stop using it. https://www.healthline.com/health/toasted-skin-syndrome
