Age 79, knee arthritis moved to feet/neck/shoulder at 76

I’m too old to face knee replacement, going to try knee ablation. Has anybody’s arthritis spread like mine has? Does Mayo Connect Chronic Pain cover all joints, or do I sign up for knees, arms, shoulder, feet separately?

There's a few related groups that you can check out. There should be a list on the right side of your screen. Or just search for arthritis and pick and choose. I'm 70 and have arthritis from my jaw to my toes. Started with my right knee about 8 years ago and has spread from there. Something else every year, it seems. Getting old ain't for sissies! Had my first spinal injection yesterday. Waiting for it to start working. Sciatica/severe adult onset scoliosis. Sciatica is even worse, IMO, than arthritis. Let us know how the ablation goes.

I don’t know why you say you’re too old to have knee replacement - I just turned 77 & being scheduled to have it done. I have severe arthritis & small tears in connective tissues. I’m very active & use a walker now b/c of having cerebral palsy from a birth injury. Hope you get some pain relief, ferret911!

I´m curious how you determined that you are too old for a knee replacement. At 84, I had a hip replacement just two weeks ago. I wish you the very best as you determine your route for reducing pain and having a meaningful life.

I guess I’m just a chicken. I’ve had so many other surgeries in my life plus I have short-term memory loss for about 4 months from any anesthesia. My neurologist said to weigh the insult to the brain from anesthesia vs. the potential improvement, which is not that good from many fellow oldsters I meet at the pool. Life’s just a crap shoot, isn’t it?:) I hope you have a wonderful life, many good years ahead!

Thanks for telling me about the toes. I tried moving a bit with PT after sitting for 2 years due to knees, then discovered toes have joined the party. Had to quit. Do you wear shoes in the house, and if so, what kind? I have my old running shoes from back in the day-I figure running started this trouble, plus 3-state hiking Appalachian Trail. But my mom was terribly arthritic without any misery exercising:). Genetically doomed? Tell
Me what you do for feet? Are podiatrists any help in addition to ortho?

Hello. I've had 3 surgeries on my right foot (podiatrist and foot specialist/ortho surgeon) because of severe pain in toes if wearing shoes unless they were too big and not snug at all. They ended up telling me they have no idea what is causing the pain. Long story short, it appears the toe pain is directly related to the sciatica from arthritis in my back. It's eased up a bit. I don't wear shoes in the house, just "Women Winter Socks Knit Anti-Slip Sweat Warm Fuzzy Home Slipper Socks (Grey)" from Amazon. The injection in my spine has definitely taken the edge off the sciatica pain. Though I went to a movie yesterday and after sitting for 2 hours it took a minute to walk without holding onto something. I won't be doing anything that jars my back, like jumping rope, running, bending without bending knees, etc.. I'm interested in the ablation and can't wait to hear if it helps you.

I have had Arthritis in my Knees for years. But started having problems with my Feet. My Neurologist at Mayo Clinic had me tested for Neuropathy, which found I had it in my Feet and Hands…Both of my Legs ache from my Feet and up.
I am 80 years old and decided Not to have Knee Replacement but am scheduled for a Knee Ablation of both Knees to help with the pain in December..
