I had pretty bad GERD, especially while sleeping, for years. More than once, I woke up after aspirating stomach acid. Talk about an unpleasant night!

Then, coincidentally, I got treated for sleep apnea, and my reflux stopped completely. That was 25 years ago.

@scottrl That is interesting reading about your treatment sleep apnea. Only yesterday i was wondering whether sleep apnea treatment would be helpful. I have diagnosed Bronchiectasis now, and in the past i have woken up choking!! I didn't know then that it was acid reflux. Thanks.
