BPH + Recurring infections. Will HoLEP end the recurrence?

77 year old with a huge prostate. Been self cathing for about 10 years.
For the last two or so years I've been getting some anti biotic resistant bacteria approximately every 2 months or so. The anti-biotics do help but it's time to man up.

I've read many of the HoLEP posts and I'm going to take that route.
Wondering if anyone has had this procedure and still experiences infections or not?

My dad is 79 years old he started with urine retention and place with catheter for only 2 years with multiple bacterial UTI required ER. Six weeks ago he had HoLep procedure. Knocking on wood, he doing better in fact. He has his check up next week. He back to normal he says "He feels great." sp

Do you know the frequency of his infections prior to the procedure? I would very much appreciate any follow-ups. I'm scheduled for the end of Dec. and the thought of not having to self cath is heartening; but my real concern is never having a UTI again 🙂
