HRT
Has anyone had trouble with their physician concerning hormone replacement therapy?
My physician says I am too old to be treated for that. I am 69 but I feel that some of my problems are related to low estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.
After going through menopause many years ago and having the night sweats, etc. they were gone for several years and now I’m having them back as well as other issues like aches and pains, hair loss, anxiety, fatigue and muscle weakness.
Thoughts?

Everyone read the new menopause by Dr. Haver.
She talks about older women trying hrt., etc
@vjo16, I am 72 and my cardiologist put me on bioidentical hormones a few months back, mainly because I was terribly lacking, and I have osteoporosis. He felt strongly that I could benefit from the hormones (estradiol, testosterone and progesterone) for my overall health and hopefully sustain my bones. I was on an osteoporosis medication for 2 years (an injection) and my bone loss improved, but now my rheumatologist wants me on another medication and I'm hesitating a bit, which is probably not good. My cardiologist passed away unexpectedly a couple months back and I was fearful that another doctor would not refill my hormone therapy, but I was referred to a gynecologist/integrative specialist and she was happy to refill my prescriptions and educate me on the benefits. There are doctors out there that have educated themselves to the flawed research about hormones that was done in the early 2000's and now know that we need hormones to sustain healthy/happy bodies. She also prescribed a vaginal suppository that will help with my dryness/burning/pain. I hope you will find a physician, preferably an integrative specialist that has knowledge of the benefits of hormone therapy for us older gals. Rose

Please get the book ESTROGEN MATTERS by Dr. Avrum Bluming (oncologist)! These comments from women are so sad, whose doctors & care team are denying them the gold standard of care by NOT following the SCIENCE! There are several studies. THEY are absolutely uninformed, going off of old, outdated & DEBUNKED info from a very flawed study by the WHI back in 2002. Please inform yourselves & do your research, start by getting that book! If you are doing well on HRT/MHT & have no other contraindications, YOU can decide (it's called Informed Consent & Shared Decision Making, also Benefit-to-Risk) to continue to take MHT as long as it is of benefit & for protection. Find another doctor. They took oaths to do no harm & this could even be considered medical malpractice - negligence. Follow Dr. Kelly Casperson, Dr. Marie Claire Haver, Dr. Corinne Menn, Dr. Heather Hirsch & Dr. Louise Newson to name a few excellent resources. Share share share with all your friends, daughters, etc. Good luck. Love.
I am trying to find a physician who will consider HRT. I asked my Endocrinologist at Duke who says I’m too late to start HRT. I’m not quite 10 years out from menopause. I have an appointment next month with a gynecologist, but no idea what she’ll say.
new YouTube video podcast with Dr. Casperson and Dr. Menn discussing the new information "Is It Time to Revisit the Recommendations for Initiation of Menopausal Hormone Therapy?
Check out functional medicine providers.
I started HRT, Biote pellet, 10 years after menopause. I had one doctor who told me I should not use any form of it, including Premarin cream. After reading new information about the flawed study I decided to go ahead with it, found a functional doctor. Wish I had started earlier, fingers crossed I made the right choice.
