Windyshores or others!!!

am trying to FINALLY make a decision between Tymlos & Prolia as starting treatmment for fairly severe osteoporosiss. Have posted here before but lost track! -- am 86 years old & have fairly severe osteoporosis. One fracture, a year ago in a wrist. My main concern about Tymlos is the necessity for a steady hand which I do not always have.

Lately, I have been using these smaller needles and what a breeze when injecting Tymlos. All under OP injectables should insist their Endo and Pharmacy for thes BD nano or similar.

Will be done w/Tymlos in 4 weeks!

Ours are BD Nano Ultra-Fine pen needles - 4mm x 32G. Sounds like the same size you have. They are super easy to insert and he says he doesn't even feel it. Good luck to you too!!

Those are the ones I will get! I don’t know why either. It’s the same with the Covid vaccinations at cvs — I haven’t ask for a finer needle. Common sense with dictate that if they offered people finer needles on their injections, more people would get the injections they’re supposed to have! Right?!

During my cataract surgery, the ophthalmologist asked for a needle to inject some medicine in my eye (dropless surgery). He rejected the 33-gauge needle asking instead for a 25-gauge one as what he wanted to inject was too thick for the very fine needle. Common sense.

It makes no sense to me why they wouldn’t just use fine needles. I can’t imagine anyone not wanting them over thicker ones.

I was nervous about giving myself shots when I started on Tymlos almost 2 years ago but it's not as bad as it sounds. The trick is to "pinch an inch" of belly fat, then push needle in and depress the plunger part. Real quick--and the needle tip is very small, thank goodness! I went to my doctors office for the first time so she could walk me through it. Maybe you could do that? I also take mine right before bedtime because it tends to make me sleepy. Tymlos will help you build up some bone--while prolia will only hold on to what you have right now. My spine has showed a 12% improvement after 18 months on Tymlos. Good luck!

Do you have any bad dude effects from Tymlos? I am a 66 yr old female with severe osteo and need to take meds but I have heard horror stories concerning these meds and I am so afraid. What are ur thoughts on Tymlos? Thank u

Most people tolerate them well. The ones who don't are more likely to talk about it, so it may seem to you like the drugs are riskier than they are. You have no way to know what group you'll be in until you start taking it. Way I see it, you don't have a choice ; you need to try something.

@goseve with 7 spinal fractures I am here to say that for me those fractures have been a lot worse than any side effect.

I got on Tymlos by starting at a low dose. The pen has "clicks" that measure dosing. If you are afraid you could talk to your doctor about trying that but get yourself up to a good dose as quickly as possible.

People seem to have few side effects on Evenity in my circle of friends. Ditto Reclast. But they are not on the forum!

Somehow, I had no side effects from Tymlos, Forteo, Evenity, or Reclast. All of them gave me bone improvement.
To be 100% fair, after the first dose of Evenity, I had mild flu-like symptoms for a day.
I feel lucky.
