Medication question

Is there anyone who has both RA and autoimmune hepatitis?
I’m at a loss. Have been prescribed Imuran for the hepatitis and it’s supposed to help with RA, but I still have major flares, daily pain.Does anyone take Imuran and low dose naltrexone at the same time?

Love to know what you mean by cymbals being ‘counterproductive?’ I’m not sure it adds a lot for pain relief but 30 mg certainly does take edge off anxiety about it all for me ( down from 40 mg) thanks for reply

It means I can't spell a hoot. Thank goodness you knew what I meant. Cymbalta gave me baad anhedonia. (sp?)

No prednisone addiction. Actually, he doesn’t want to take prednisone, but is on 2.5 mg each am. Started with 10 mg but, he wants off of it, totally.

Hi .,
No, no addiction issues, and it’s ok to ask. Because of the autoimmune hepatitis, I’ve been told I can only take Imuran. A naturopath suggested Low dose naltrexone for the RA but I can’t seem to find any info on taking the two medications together. Thanks for asking!

@carolinemartin656 I use drugs.com as my go to site to check for any drug interactions.

I keyed in interaction between Imuran and Naltrexone. According g to this site, there is no drug interaction between the two.

I find if in doubt, your local pharmacist is the best source of information. If you use a regular pharmacy for all your medications, that pharmacy would have your list of medications too, so would be able to advise you.

After working as a unit clerk in a hospital I have developed a great respect for pharmacists and nurses - they more often than not know more about drug interactions than the prescribing g doctors! Check with your regular pharmacist!

In the meantime here is what I found about any interaction between Imuran and Naltrexone - but check with your pharmacist anyway.

@carolinemartin656 you’re very welcome. I also have all my medications and supplements listed in that website (you need to sign in with a password so only you have access to your information) and interactions get registered automatically. I have also subscribed to their newsletter.
