I want to know if Dr. Gundry's program and medicine for "leaky gut" a scam? Lucien

I’ve been diagnosed with GERD, IBS-M, and Leaky Gut. I’m also dairy and shell fish intolerant. I prefer natural treatments before prescriptions. My Doctor and I have been working on me for sometime now. Two years ago she suggested Dr Gundry’s Lectin Free Diet. I’m not going to flower it as it’s a hard diet to be true to! Especially if there are other food issues to add to the mix. I never ordered his supplements as I felt that’s foolish if I’m eating healthy. It took along time to get my head around this way of eating. It gave me back hope and a social life again. I don’t feel he’s a scam but maybe pushing supplements is his profits. I did purchase his book and a great book noon

In my opinion everything about him is a scam. He’s probably already selling every vitamin known to man to try and make up some of the nutrients in the foods he says we shouldn't eat.
As a scientist he should know foods provide more nutrients than supplements.
Save your money. He's looking out for himself not you.

Jake I appreciate reading your opinion thinking about his Total Restore dietary supplement and decided to hold off until discussing with my primary hematologist oncologist first I was unable to find additional data on short term as well long term side effects online
At age 63 trying to survive Chronic ITP was looking for less pain, loose weight, sleep deprived & just try to feel better was my desperate hope this would be the miracle pill regimen that would help me live with less health complications living with a rare blood disorder side effects and all the treatments I had to endure since day “1” end of December 2018 to date

What Dr. Gundry is stating is not new idea, it's just one that mainstream marketers hate to promote...Why? Because they can make so much more $$$ keeping us sluggish and unhealthy. It's logical, but it's not new. I have lose weight and my constipation is pretty much gone, YET feeling much better is ongoing. Lectin are bad, but sugar is the real "Hell on Earth" folk's, because we love it and it's in virtually everything!!...When I started a few weeks ago, I was 6' 1" & weighed 233 lbs. After starting BIO-Complete 3, I have fluctuated between 206-215 lbs. My goal is 190. I now walk a minimum of 5 to 7 miles a day. I think the main reason why my weight hasn't consistently gone down is due to the biggest scourge we have in society "Sugar." In the 1970's, Leaky gut was more of syndrome then a medical disease diagnosis. If we do not get a handle on the sugar epidemic, most diets illuminating other harmful foods will eventually fail. Like Dr. Gundry stated, food producers want to sell us everything, especially if these manufacturer's know we crave the products. Powerful lobbyists in Washington DC are only making it worse. The only product worse than Sugar is Artificial Sweeteners. Lectins are proteins found in many foods we eat. Sugar and sugar substitutes are in everything. They can disturb the lining of the stomach, but I am not convinced that a lectin free diet is the answer to most stomach and intestinal issues, but SUGAR is..!!! With this said, and until the SUGAR cartel issue is addressed millions will continue to die of diabetes and many other health issues. I have decided to continue taking Dr. Steven Gundry's Bio-Complete 3 to help regulate naturally the build-up and destructive acts of "Lectins and Sugar." The much bigger poison in our society is "Sugar". Dr Gundry's products do work to help digestive issues, but it's only 1/2 the solution. I am hoping his new Proplant Complete shake mixes with plant based protein will help keep my weight from fluctuating and continue to improve my digestive health. Obviously, you can save money ordering the products separately, but it's very convenient to buy his products ready to go as long as they continue to work in this synthesized formula. I am convinced by the data that if we keep our stomach and intestinal tract healthy of dangerous built-up toxins that can leach into our bodies, process our food properly with good bacteria, absorb the nutrients that we need, and expel our waste properly, we will definitely feel better.

Try Benefiber in any form: powder, chewables or gummies to stop chronic diarrhea. It works.

Benefiber doesn’t seem to be available anywhere, any more. In any case, it probably works the same as Restoralax (in Canada)/Miralax (in the States).

@rashida That’s interesting about availability. Maybe I’m wrong but I think Benefiber is still available in the US. As for Miralax, I’ve never used it, but I know it’s prescribed for constipation here, not diarrhea (as far as I know).

Well, I have been researching anything that can return my regular BM since my intestinal prolapse surgery in October and now I am becoming more than a little concerned. I also read Dr Gundry's excerpts from his book and I think he sounds like he just wants money from people. Not an expert as he calls himself. I don't know what to use anymore because nothing is really working.. Doctors have prescribe the Miralax, Lactulose, Bisacodyl, Phillips Milk of Magnesia (yuk) and other over the counter things- such a waste of money .... the list goes on... I was so desperate last week I bought one of those liquid enema apparatus kits.. but I felt it was too dangerous and that I may harm myself even further... my PCP suggested eating 2 Kiwi's Fruits and at least 64 ounces of warm lemon water per day.. Apparently Kiwi's are the new "Prunes" Yoga and different types of twisting exercises sometimes gets things moving a bit, but none of this gives me the relief that is needed to be normal. I am literally full of ___ !! Today I decided I am no longer eating because it is not being eliminated properly. I can't go on this way any longer.. Each doctor seems to be of no help. This is such a condition that is difficult and embarrassing to talk about, even to a gastrologist .. I don't know... I feel something is terrible wrong.. Please, does anyone have any have any other suggestions about what I can do this weekend? Thank you so much for any response 🙁

I drink a natural tea called PinaLim. One cup of hot tea at night before going to bed, and results in the morning. The word Pina comes from the word pineapple, and the word Lim comes from the Spanish word limpia which means to clean or clean out. It was recommended by a caregiver for my 90-year-old mother who was constantly constipated. It did the trick for mom. I was on vacation in Mexico and found it there by accident in a pharmacy, but you can order it from Amazon. It’s very inexpensive. Now I drink a cup at night when needed, but I stay close to home the next day. By the way, my mother‘s doctor told her to stay away from MiraLAX type products. All the best!
