Vaginal or urine odor: What might be the cause?
I’m a 67 yr old female with either vaginal or urine strong foul odor. Gyno did all tests and ultrasound. No issues. I had a hip replacement & am now on an antibiotic and the odor has dissapeared. Where else could the odor have been coming from. The antibiotic has solved something but what could it be?

Hi novaroad5, I know what an awful problem this can be, I remember when I was working there was a bridge club down the hall from my office and they were mostly seniors there. We would use the same bathroom and everyone would complain about how bad it smelled, they believed it was a senior woman’s issue. I think some of it is caused by harmonal change or even some medications can cause this too, even your diet can cause it to happen. I think in your case you mentioned going on antibiotics and it stopped, it’s possible that you might have had a small infection that didn’t cause symptoms. I think it’s very treatable and a gynaecologist can help you with that by taking a specimen to be sure you don’t have a problem, believe me even younger women have the same problem.
Thank you so much that makes so much sense. A nurse comes to my house today for my hip evaluation. I’m going to ask her about what you said. Today is my last day of antibiotics. It will be interesting to see if it returns. Ty
@novaroad5, medications can effect urine odor. Did you learn anything from the nurse's visit?
