Managing Hip Bursitis Pain

Posted by donnajones @donnajones, 18 hours ago

I have what has been diagnosed as bursitis in my right hip for almost a year now-steroids will relieve for a brief period of time . I can’t sleep of a night because that is when the pain is the worst. The only non pharmaceutical relief I have gotten is sound wave therapy has anyone had this and tried something that worked. This is now even bothering me when I walk of a day.

donnajones, Have you tried Voltaren Gel (otc) for your hip bursitis & a heat pack? Also, low dose Mobic is a prescription NSAID that works wonders for a lot of folks. It is not as upsetting to the gut & blood pressure like most NSAIDS are. Also, Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory that may help. Of course, you would have to ask your doctor about all of these.

Praying for you. Hip issues are painful.

Thanks so much for the reply, I can’t take NSAIDS because of my kidneys. I do use a heating pad at night. This pain is not taken care of by the pain medication prescribed by my doctor. I’ll try the voltarin gel haven’t done that.

Have you tried the Lidocaine 4% patches and roll-on. I've had bilateral hip replacements & at 76 overall arthritis. The lidocaine 4% really helps. WalMart, Target, CVS & I'm sure Walgreens has them. The WalMart brand, Equate, works the same as the brand names. If the patch can't be used in an area for some reason, the roll-on is great.
Of course, always ask your doctor before starting or making changes in any course of treatment.

Good luck & best of health.
