Years ago I started to cough after eating, no matter what I ate. I will cough 1, 2 or more times. I feels good, no pain at all. It feels like the feeling after you have a cold and have a good, loud productive cough. It's not bothersome but I'm wondering what it could be. It doesn't seem to be related to stomach acids or anything. It seems to be a reaction of eating, like first saliva, then all the other processes, including maybe a bit of congestion in the lungs? I don't know. Any idea?

Do ask you primary care for a referral to a gastroenterologist. Some of the gastric juices released are odorless and tasteless. But the do cause inflammation.

I have Bronchiectasis, and if I overfill my stomach, and sometimes just with a small amount of food, I will cough and have more mucus production.
This was explained by a Dietician at NJH. I believe there is a way to visit her explanation on YouTube. It was part of the speakers at the NJH Lecture Series in April of 2024. I don't remember the dietician's name.
