I know I might be too sensitive recently, but I am always feeling that I lost lot of time, I am like disabled one with no value, alone 💔

Oh gosh, dear heart. Feeling alone is the worst feeling in the world and having cancer, along with an eating disorder is most likely taking its toll on your mental well being.

From what I’m reading with all of your replies, is that you really do have a support system but are afraid to come completely clean to your mom about your bulimia. I have a feeling she may already know because surely, you have symptoms and side effects of bulimia after 5 years.

You already mentioned that your mom has been very supportive with your emotional disorder. I think you’ll feel better when you actually tell her the extent of your problem. Knowing the truth can help her to help you! Don’t be afraid to tell her! It will be a huge weight off your shoulders and maybe hers too!

As a mom myself, I can understand if your mom feels that you may not be handling emotional issues well right now. She wants to protect you from outside sources of stress like medical results and such. She also knows that you must be exhausted from the CML treatments, and that you most likely have a weakened immune system so she is protecting you by setting limits. But you want strive to remain independent so that leaves you feeling smothered and overprotected. Your sister is right though, this may be temporary until your health improves. Your mom has a lot of emotions invested in you…you’re both under a great deal of stress!

You are so brave to reach out for help here on Connect and are most definitely not disabled with no value! You are a vital young woman with 2 health issues which, with help, may be overcome. This leukemia is treatable and most people recover to live long and healthy lives. I know you want this for yourself. I also had leukemia and I know first hand that nutrition and rest are two of the most important components to help you recover, besides the medication to treat CML. As you already know, bulimia is interfering with your body’s ability to get the proper nutrition to keep you healthy, which then interferes with your recovery and possibly the medications.

Let your mom help you get better. She is very worried about you and I think you’ll start feeling mentally stronger when you unburden yourself from the weight of this secret you’ve been keeping from her. She wants you to be well and so do I! Will you think about telling her please?
