Reduce dose of exemestane

After 3 months of debilitating joint pain with exemestane, I was told to try another AI. I don’t believe it will be better. So I researched if different dosage could be as effective and I found that research: Alternative Dosing of Exemestane Before Surgery in Treating Postmenopausal Patients With Stage 0-II Estrogen Positive Breast Cancer . : Conclusions and Relevance: In this randomized clinical trial, exemestane, 25 mg, given 3 times weekly in compliant patients was noninferior to the once-daily dosage in decreasing serum estradiol. - I am going to try this instead of stopping completely AI

Exemestane is different from the other AI's.

The drug insert for letrozole says that a 20% dose is effective.

The thing is, if they are effective, that means estradiol has been reduced below detectable levels so wouldn't side effects be the same?

I started with anastrazole, switched to generic letrozole, had side effects, switched to brand name and tolerated. Sometimes it is the fillers in the med, but it sounds like for you switching manufacturers won't help. Still exemestane is different in the way it works so maybe trying anastrazole or letrozole might help. My doctor allowed alternate day dosing with letrozole though I never did it.

The study was done with women median age of 66. who can’t tolerate daily adjuvant treatment. I am 71, my joint pain was mostly blamed on arthritis but when I stopped no pain!! Pharma loves to medicate but less can be effective . Quality of life!

I am not sure. I know that I was put on Exemestane because I could not tolerate Anastrozole.
I am shedding like crazy. My hair is really thin...
