Lichen Sclerosus: Any other women dealing with this disease?

Posted by Kitten92 @kitten92, May 22, 2017

Is anyone out there dealing with this disease? I am currently using a compound ointment that my oncologist prescribed but I'm looking for possible lazer treatments or anything else that might now be available.

@minnesota10 oh … I didn’t know Cottonelle was actually made of cotton! I thought the advertisements were describing the paper to feel like actual cotton!

I did use Cottonelle some years ago but stopped using it because I found it caused my toilet to block.

Does it work? Is it painful?

I've been diagnosed with LS. Mine started early around 20yrs old. But not diagnosed and treated until my 30s. I don't know about laser treatment. But I did read that taking a antihistamine pill at night can help with inflammation. I use clobetasol whenever I need it and now they say you don't have to use it so sparingly. Breathable pants and underwear if you wear it. I hardly wear underwear anymore and go comando at night. I'm also not afraid to wrap an ice pack and use it when flaring.

You saw Dr Coyle, who I recently saw an ad! I’m new to L.Sclerosis & wonder if I should go there soon or wait out the Clobesterol Oint treatment (twice a day x 2 weeks, then daily x 2 weeks)? The twice daily seems high to me & don’t want to thin the skin in the figure of 8 application (which includes the perineum & anal areas). In 4 weeks, a possible biopsy, if no improvement.
I’d rather have a reliable treatment sooner. I will ask at my 4 week follow-up. So far, a week of twice daily Clobetasol, it did help the itch, but the white skin & rough areas are still present. Most sites I’ve read start with Clobetasol just daily & taper after some improvement. I sure don’t want cancer in that area!

I was diagnosed in April 2022 with LS, the ointment my Gynocolgist gave me burned so bad and I did research on it and started using Olive oil, the same kind you cook with, it has been amazing, no more itching ulcers etc.

I cant stress enough on Olive oil and how great it has been for me, the ointments burned so I went all natural. My Gynocolgist couldn't believe it, he has started telling other woman to try it.

I had surgery for labial adhesion the first of January. I had become so occluded that I could barely pass urine. I can pee now but the area feels like I have a hundred paper cuts. The nurse said to use olive oil or coconut oil. I did the olive oil first and applied it using my fingers. That did not seem to work and I wondered if the actual touching was part of the problem. I realize that using only once was not a good indication of if it would help or not. I went to the coconut oil and it was in a solid form and I would put it on a pad and it seemed to help. My question to you is, when applying the olive oil did you use your fingers or put it on a pad?? Looking forward to your response. I don't see the surgeon until the end of May. Thanks.
