Menopause symptoms effexor

Hi
Wondering if anybody was on HRT prior to breast cancer diagnosis and had to go off hrt Because of hormone positive breast cancer. If anyone is taking effexor for menopause symptoms and if your results are positive. My doctor wants me to start it.

I take Effexor and have had great results. I was having hot flashes that kept me up at night and would cry easily daily. Now, for the most part I have no hot flashes. And it helped my emotions! I'm very thankful my Dr recommended. Good luck.

I did get some nausea in the evening (but before I took it), and sometimes only felt like eating toast. I switched to the morning and that got better. I started on lowest does, 37.5 I think. Then after a month went to 75 i think, then up to 125 i think. Dr did say its the higher dose known to help hot flashes, but she started me low and increazed me 2 times gradually . I have heard insomnia is side effect of it, but I also take 1 Lorezapam at night to help me sleep.

Yes, my Dr prescribed Zofran. I asked for the tablets that melt in the mouth as they work faster.
I didnt want to admit I was depressed, but after taking Effexor I felt better so it confirmed for me i was drepresses. I cried alot before i went on it. Give Effexor some time to work and keep in mind the dr can increase it. I had an increase after trying a dose amt for 1 month.

Please proceed cautiously. I was put on Effexor for hot flashes upon reaching menopause, and have been unable to get off the drug due to extreme withdrawal symptoms--much worse than hot flashes. It has some horrible side effects; research the effects on this website. Some doctors still prescribe it, others now refuse to prescribe it for any reason. I would suggest sweating through exercise and other methods of dealing with hot flashes and depression before using this particular drug. Best wishes.
