Anyone experience anemia (low hemoglobin) after radiation? What helps?

I became borderline anemic soon after I started on ADT, even before I had my main radiation. Previously, my iron had been near the high limit.

I have been anemic since my surgery on 5/22. Radiation worsened it. My primary care doctor has ordered an iron infusion for next week.

Yes. Right after surgery, I received blood, then platelets. I never went back to anything approaching normal, though. I hope the iron infusion helps.

Hard to say, since in addition to the 42 low dose radiation treatments for prostate cancer and the 5 high dose treatments to stop bleeding from malignant kidney tumor I had in the last two and half years, I had several weeks of bleeding from the lesion which has stopped for almost five months. I still am border line anemic, but after iron infusion a few months ago the anemia has improved. I am guessing that both the radiation and bleeding were factors in the anemia.

Drs don’t want to give me treatment until my anemia gets in a better range. Does this sound correct ?
