I’m 85 and think I have the flu.
No fever, but chills, no appetite and stomach aches, some diarrhea. What should I do?

@3434 If this were me or someone from my family I'd call the doctor. I had this very discussion with my doctor a few months ago when I was very ill with norovirus (food poisoning). If you don't feel well enough to go to your doctor's office you can ask for a phone call or a virtual meeting by computer or iPhone.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this. It must be very unpleasant at best, and very scary.

How long have you had these symptoms?

About 15 years ago, I had some unexplained digestive issues, with associated headache, chills, and insomnia.

In my case, it turned out my thyroid was going a little wackadoodle. (The official medical term, dontcha know.)
At the time, I was broke and didn't have insurance, so I waited it out. It passed in about a month. I was also under severe stress at the time.

I have had no long-term effects.

I hope you find the answer soon!

not everyone who has the flu, gets fever, you did not say how long you had the symptoms, if you take medications for other conditions, or if you are in general a healthy person, if symptoms persist or have
been going on for a couple days, consult a doctor- till then stay hydrated, rest, how do your stomach aches present?, are they cramps, on a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, how bad are they?, do they stay the same or are they getting worse?

I would encourage you to talk to a trusted family member or friend if possible and contact your doctor for advice. Have you had the flu shots? Seasonal, Covid & RSV. I had them all and 3 days ago I caught a bad head cold. Not flu or Covid. Just a bad cold with lots of nasal ( not chest) congestion. Covid home test negative. But 3 years ago I did a home Covid test which was twice positive, followed up the same day with a test at the pharmacy. Positive also. I had NO symptoms of any kind of I took the test because I was supposed to go to a baby shower & just had a premonition I guess to take the test. So I urge you to check with a doctor etc.
