How Many Guys Have Achieved 100% Erection Baseline?

Posted by survivor5280 @survivor5280, Nov 4 5:03pm

Talking to the penile therapist today and he said that only about 5% of men, following a prostatectomy with nerve sparing, get back to 100% of their previous erection. He didn't particularly elaborate on what is more common - 90%? 80%? 50%?

That sounds very depressing. Yes, I know there are pills and pumps and injections and implants, but I was far more hopeful as a relatively young man of 54 who has never had even the slightest hint of ED in my life. I can hope to be in the 5% but I cannot count on that.

I know that ED will happen with age anyway for 90% of the men of the world, but I still have many years ahead before that should be a concern, so making it happen early is really messing with me.

Don't focus on "% hardness". The key metric for me is: does it allow for both me and my partner to have a satisfying, enjoyable experience we'd like to repeat. By that standard, I achieved "100%" within 7 months post surgery.

Tulsa Pro over prostatectomy. Sure you will have to travel, but it is the way to go.

I did Tulsa Pro at 65 in July. I was 100% erection baseline at 1 week. If you are a candidate for TulsaPro, it is worth your consideration. I too struggled with the percentage of my surgeon was giving me. Quite frankly I wasn’t ready to hit the bench!

This is probably the right group to brag. I had RALRP in Feb2020. My wife has been sick since I was able to return to action. I have not stimulated myself or had any stimulation in almost 5 years. I have had a few instances in the middle of night where i could feel blood might be giving me a little firmness but more just a feeling than anything else. I woke up the other night about 3am and had a full erection. Maybe not quite as robust as before surgery but pretty close. I was pretty sure that I had waited to long to get anything back. This was encouraging. I have no idea if I could recreate it in the moment.

Its a great sign . Work at it a bit and it will come along . Also speak to your Dr as he has many ideas . Even a Cancer sex therapist may help . We have them here on Vancouver Island ....they work with PC people to get back in action. They has some great ideas like Tri-Mix Gel and other stuff ! God Bless Sir . James on Vancouver Island

Has anyone on here have a 4.1 accending aorta aneurysm. If so were you advise not to use cialis or viagra.

That's a very good question. I have had several echocardiograms over the past 10 years showing ascending aorta dilation of 4.1 cm (which is just over the line of normal). Neither I nor any of my doctors considered this. Maybe a right hand not knowing about the left hand situation with me in the middle being too ignorant or not clever enough to ask about it. I will investigate.

I will say that for six months after surgery I took daily viagra, and several times since. I had another echo at the end of those six months, with no change. But again, no one has ever brought it up.

I’m 9 months post surgery and my nerves are still in the process of healing, I’m also on ADT which makes ED a bigger challenge. That being said I wanted to regain lost physical intimacy sooner than later so I opted for injections to allow full function until the nerves fully heal. On a good day when I’m not stressed out I’m typically 100% back to where I was before surgery. My urologist believes that once ADT ends and my testosterone rises I won’t need injections and may not even need viagra.

You’re a young man! Don’t give up!

What is ADT ?

REPLY

ADT is androgen deprecation therapy. I’m on two different drugs that lower my testosterone levels so that I am in effect chemically castrated temporarily. My testosterone level before the drugs was 261 which was a little low for my age. On the drugs, my testosterone is 38.

ADT is recommended for people with higher risk prostate cancer and I’m one of them.
