What Distracts You From the Pain?
Hello!
We share what works (and what doesn't) for us as far as medicines and surgeries,etc.
What works for you to give yourself a little break? I'm presently researching family history from the comfort of my recliner.

I walk around the house as much as I can.
I can't take Advil. I have Chrones. I fell and broke my back about 1 1/2 years ago. So I can't get into the tub. I use a chair to shower.
I too have a fracture the L2 and use a shower chair We have to do what we can this is not the golden years for sure I'm 75
I'm 71
I use meditation, biofeedback, sometimes tapping, guided imagery, TENS unit, chiropractic with massage/Russian TENS, usually ice, Teracin pain patch (lidoderm/capsaicin plus some other ingredients), anti-seizure medication, antispasmodic (benzodiazepine), narcotic, but have never had acupuncture. Have had my initial injury since 1992 necessitating numerous surgeries and complications. Never started out on medications and used psychotherapy, heat, ice, TENS, sometimes a medication for restful sleep. As needed Motrin but it stopped working. At times I do use 4 mg prednisone on bad days for the arthritis in my fusions; that works very well and for my fibromyalgia. What works for one may not work for others. The sad state today are uninformed government representatives not allowing good pain doctors to treat their chronic pain patients with the medications needed; many in my state are closing up practice. Even though we use our medications responsibly to have some "life", those not living in our world of pain, are treating us like the drug addicts on the streets. The doctors have to take special courses and get certifications and the state is trying to tie their hands, even in the emergency room use. I am a former RN educator who can no longer work but do keep up with my field and especially chronic pain research to help myself. Best of luck!
I had to quite nursing,L.P.N ,I fractured my back, of course the Dr.in ,05 , put me on diff.narcotics I've since weened down to 1Tramadol at night but take a lot of herbal medicine A tea,Arnica tea helps me with the pain I found it ,at Rite Aid.Good luck
I wrote it down and will try The Health Ranger I follow has many herbs and has chamomile tea listed, just saw tonight. He has many diseases and problems that use diets, herbs, vitamins, etc (listed on a big chart and aides to help). I drink the tea at times for sleep...can't say it works great but try and stay positive it's important! Chronic pain is always affecting my sleep so maybe when I do fall asleep after I drank it, it did work. So I will try the Arnica tea. Don't know if you use green tea but years ago I was told it is good for anti-inflammation so I drink that. The only problem is as long as you are not on blood thinners. Thanks so much. I am willing to try anything not harmful that could make a positive difference!
I listen to the Health Ranger also Yes I like what he has to say I studied Holistic medicine there are some good herbal medicine .But if your on Coumadin you take cant some.
I am on Arixtra. It is an injection. I just took a tramadon. I'm hoping That I can sleep tonight. I also have sleep apnea. I do have a device and I use it all the time. Last night my legs were jumping all over the place. Then my butt started. I was shaking all over and then I couldn't go back to sleep.
@memmpm
Do you have restless leg syndrome? I take Klonopin so I don't kick my wife in my sleep. It's the one medication she wants me to keep.
