Any info for help on this? Two radiation trials lowered psa for awhile, now levels are soaring. Dr says no more radiation. Dr is suggesting Keytruda but I have read terrible things about drug. Any advise??

What prior treatment did you undergo and How long since you were originally diagnosed ?
Trial radiation. Oral meds. About-.5 years
From your heading I presume you’ve got Mets to your bones and liver and the drug is an anti-neoplastic to kill cancer. Most anti-cancer drugs are poison and their side effects suck. Considering what you’re dealing with do you have any other choices? Chemotherapy oncologists are pretty smart folks and they don’t prescribe drugs like this lightly. It would appear their trying to arrest the spread of your cancer.
Waiting for answers. As of now nothing is being done. I am in limbo. Frustrating.
Waiting to locate where my newest PSA readings are coming from. Had radical prostatectomy PSA returned immediately- had salvage radiation in the pelvic region with Lupron within three months, my PSA is back. it’s more than tripled in the last month- going in for the PSMA pet scan this month to see where it’s coming from. I need to learn more about these exotic drugs even while hoping I won’t have to take them…PSA is still under 1.
Hope you get some answers!
There are Keytruda support groups on Facebook which include prostate cancer patients. There are also prostate cancer patients with Keytruda experience in the Facebook Prostate Cancer Foundation group. Generic testing should be done in advance to determine if you are one of the 5% that might benefit from the treatment.
