How Many Guys Have Achieved 100% Erection Baseline?

Talking to the penile therapist today and he said that only about 5% of men, following a prostatectomy with nerve sparing, get back to 100% of their previous erection. He didn't particularly elaborate on what is more common - 90%? 80%? 50%?

That sounds very depressing. Yes, I know there are pills and pumps and injections and implants, but I was far more hopeful as a relatively young man of 54 who has never had even the slightest hint of ED in my life. I can hope to be in the 5% but I cannot count on that.

I know that ED will happen with age anyway for 90% of the men of the world, but I still have many years ahead before that should be a concern, so making it happen early is really messing with me.

If your nerve sparing surgery is successful then cialis or viagra should get you close to 100%. You have a major cancer, you get what you get. No 2 people get the exact same results.

Good luck.

I’m 9 months post surgery and my nerves are still in the process of healing, I’m also on ADT which makes ED a bigger challenge. That being said I wanted to regain lost physical intimacy sooner than later so I opted for injections to allow full function until the nerves fully heal. On a good day when I’m not stressed out I’m typically 100% back to where I was before surgery. My urologist believes that once ADT ends and my testosterone rises I won’t need injections and may not even need viagra.

You’re a young man! Don’t give up!

I feel close to giving up. While I am a fighter I also realize that 5% is a very slim chance, while also realizing that being 54 with this is not ordinary and maybe it's the younger of this diseases' victims that have the better chance.

I don't know, but since being told that I'm almost entirely deflated now, I am hanging onto my sanity by my fingernails at this point. I've gone through the motions and done the things, all the things that can be done yet in the end it is totally out of my control and seemingly random. I'm definitely spiraling and can only concentrate on my reduced quality of life post-op.

I'm also aware that depression is normal for this. Because I have tried so hard to prepare, I know that 80% of men going through this experience depression. I'm pretty sure that most numbers are currently against me, I'd be a bad Vegas bet.

Tulsa Pro over prostatectomy. Sure you will have to travel, but it is the way to go.

Depression is very normal after finding out about a cancer diagnosis, and you can also add post-operative depression to that, "double-whammy" so to speak. Our minds play serious tricks on us and we are our own worst critics. We are unbelievably harsh on ourselves and tend to go down the "stinkin' thinkin'" path far to frequently. Antidepressants do help a lot. Unfortunately, they take a few weeks to kick in.

You are a young man, compared to me (71). I am 9 weeks post-op and lost one side of the nerves in the surgery. I have not used Viagra, yet, but I did order a penis pump which gets me to about 95% erection. I had my first orgasm two days ago. Kind of wimpy one, but you knew it was an orgasm. I have been told they get better the farther away you are from surgery.

DO NOT GIVE UP. If a 71-year-old man with 1/2 the nerves can do it, you are definitely going to outshine me.

Also, keep coming back here for updates and support. 🙂

This is probably the right group to brag. I had RALRP in Feb2020. My wife has been sick since I was able to return to action. I have not stimulated myself or had any stimulation in almost 5 years. I have had a few instances in the middle of night where i could feel blood might be giving me a little firmness but more just a feeling than anything else. I woke up the other night about 3am and had a full erection. Maybe not quite as robust as before surgery but pretty close. I was pretty sure that I had waited to long to get anything back. This was encouraging. I have no idea if I could recreate it in the moment.
