Severe Neuropathy in legs and feet and not a diabetic or alcoholic
Dealing with this neuropathy pain for over 3 years. Happened one month after I had an emergency appendectomy at the age of 70. Sudden onset of severe pain in legs and feet. Was not gradual pain. Been to 3 neurologists. Nothing has worked. I am not a diabetic and never drank alcohol. Tried different medication such as gabepentin, etc. tried epidurals, acupuncture, cryotherapy, stem cell therapy ($9000 which insurance did not cover). I have appointments with a fitness trainer to do my best to stay in shape, which exercising is getting so difficult. I am not overweight and have always been physically fit. I’ve had nerve tests, scans, etc. run with nothing conclusive. Said some stenosis. Next is doing an ablation on the nerve but don’t know if that will work either. Can anyone advise what to do next?

Dear @jbb12
I read what you wrote and pain from your legs to you feet for the last 3 years.
xxx WELL, FOR ME… xxx
Well, for me was the last 2 years… doctor-after-doctor. Two years ago, I feel sound from my car (I can’t drive myself anymore ago anyway) and hit my 2 rear-ends in a wooden step. After that, my cutting grass is gone; my wa;king with outside walking with my doggy was gone; picking up from one side to another is gone. My pain was there worse then worse.
xxx A FEW MONTHS AGO… xxx
A few months ago, I had/have a doctor that works on my back. This guy welled me before from my accident 12 years ago that made me a TBI member; but not this from the legs to my feet pain…
This doctor gave me a choice from my back just up my butt in one side. It was great, but it took me - after my surgery - 5 days at the hospital. When I got home, that my wife took me and almost zero pain of that feeling. In February that’s one year. Thx to that doctor has given adds of over parts like a daily 30 minute plugged-in machine that makes NO feeling of it. It’s adds my back part and, wow, helps my back-strength at that part. That’s a WOW-one.
I pray daily to God that He’s Given my life that fixed my body, brain, uses.
We’ll have a good one

Please see 'The Nerve Doctors' on YouTube, Gabapentin will not treat neuropathy and can increase the disease.
I have had 4 Back Surgeries. I'm 86 and have Balance problems from the Neuropathy and the Surgeries. I went to Physical Therapy for 3 years and I'm now doing all my exercises at home. My quadriceps and calves are very developed at this time from all my exercises to strengthen my legs I also do balance exercises using balance pad. Unfortunately my balance hasn't improved much. I still need a cane. Has anyone found a Physician who says he can really treat Neuropathy. I've taken Gabapenten 3x a day for over 10 years doesn't help balance.
Hello from Colorado!
I wish I had better news, Ma'am, but aside from (legal) Medical Marijuana, Gabapentin and Pregabalin (Lyrica) are the only two things I have used to wrestle with this darned Peripheral Neuropathy pain.
There are a couple of other similar products out there, but I haven't tried those.
Now, in my case these medications were prescribed to help with the severe pain I was having at bedtime, not to help with any balance issues I have.
Peace and Love from an Old Colorado Hippie, -Don
May I ask what your precancerous blood situation is? I’ve got something weird in my blood also
I saw 2 neurologists and consulted with 2 Mayo Clinic specialists!
It is called MGUS and also I have monocytosis. MGUS rarely happens in women younger than 60 and is mostly men get it. Your doctor can check for it by doing blood tests, but if you are under age 50-60, don't bet on anything being positive. You could be idiopathic like many are! Anyhow, the diet, supplements and exercises/circulation building for legs and feet is a MUST do no matter what the cause is, or if they don't ever know the cause.
See reply below.
Thanks Don God has been good to me.After my last surgery which was 5 1/2hours I am pain free but my Neuropathy remained without pain just poor balance and a " Dropped "right foot.
I’m 70. And have mycrocytic anemia

Graves’ disease/diabetes
Cervical/ lumbar severe spinal stenosis
Thanks for your comments. We are awaiting results of blood test and some other testing that has been done. Not sure of the terms at this stage. I will comment again when we have these complete.
