I make a concoction of 1/4 cup of white chia seeds to 1 cup of water. Then refrigerate it. I then use 2 tablespoons of chia seeds gel in my smoothies 3 - 4 a week. I change my high fiber breakfast every 2 days and drink over 40 ounces of water a day. Ezekiel cereal helps as does walking and 1 cup of coffee 2 times a week.
I'm surprised your GI didn't give you any recommendations on medications. Do you have constipation and has a cause been identified? I ask because my daughter was once prescribed Linzess to speed transit time and is often used for IBS-C. There are many other medications as well. In my daughter's situation things got much worse and one thing she learned was that fiber was a bad thing for her. This is why I'm a little sensitive to public recommendations. I would never had thought that.

I don't have IBS but I am sensitive to eating high fiber food. The low FODMAP diet helped clear out my gut a lot. After all the years of hearing that people need to eat enough fiber it surprised me to learn that too much fiber, or at least fiber of a certain type, can cause problems.

Hey Doors4ever,
I have a similar issue and for me a handful of almonds taken every day seems to have really helped.
Hope you find something that work for you!
