Constant itching scalp

Posted by jeanadair123 @jeanadair123, Jul 19, 2021

Just interested if anyone has an itchy scalp? I have had 3 cancers but this is driving me crazy. Two doctors gave me shampoo but the side effects loss of hair etc put me off using them. I have been using 1 tablespoon of olive oil and tea tree and peppermint oil. Has anyone had a problem and if so what did they use? Thanks

Hi Rashidz. Thanks for thst. How long did it take before the Bilzelx worked? I take something like Benadryl most nights but hasn't really stopped the itch and I hate the hangovers I get from those types of drugs. And how long have you been.on the Bimzelx?? Thanks!

@leemoore13 I started taking the Bimzelx injection in February every four weeks for five months, then went on an eight week schedule.

The information package said it would take about four or five injections before I would see results, but my skin started clearing after the first injection. My scalp stopped itching after two or three weeks instead of months, and it was clear of scales by the fourth injection.

I was on Methotrexate some years ago and it worked great - my skin cleared up completely in six months and stayed clear on it but after about four years I was told I should stop taking it because it might affect my liver in the long run as I ha a fatty liver. I was weaned off it and as soon as I started reducing the Methotrexate dosage of eight tablets a week to four my psoriasis returned with a vengeance.

Then I started Stelara injections while still initially on two Methotrexate tablets a week then only on Stelara. Stelara had no effect on my Stelara.

After eighteen months on Stelara and having no results I was switched to Skyrizi injections. skyrizi too didn’t do much for me - while the rest of my body showed a bit of improvement my scalp was a mess and itched continuously.

About two years after being on Skyrizi with little effect, my current dermatologist switched me to Bimzelx - which cleared my psoriasis within two weeks - scalp included. The information package states, however, thst it can take up to four months to show any results.

@leemoore13 I am sure diet - knowing which foods to avoid - could and would help but I have always been terrible at following any kind of diet. I am thankful that I can get by just as I am, lol.

I am happy to be cleared of psoriasis again, finally, after having been taken off Methotrexate. I have heard people complain that Methotrexate did nothing for them (just as I have complained about Stelara and Skyrizi which apparently have worked great on others), yet it worked great for me. Too bad I had to discontinue using it because of my fatty liver.

I am also having extreme problems with itchy scalp. There is no dandruff. I have tried all the itchy/scalp shampoos with only minor, short-lasting relief. Conditioners do not help or hurt. This developed at the same time palpable red/purple dots showed on my calves. They are extremely itchy. Substantial, unintentional weight loss also began at this time.

Thank you, I have consulted a dermatologist he said I have very slight dermatitis, they gave me some shampoo that had quite a few side effects so I didn’t use it. I have been mixing 20 drops of tea tree oil and 10 drops of peppermint oil in 1 tablespoon of olive oil. I use a dropper and put it all over the roots of my hair. I leave it on for hours and during that time my scalp doesn’t itch. I use organic tea tree shampoo and conditioner. I have also been using selsun blue shampoo. I am going to try cider vinegar and water and leave that on for a while. The last few days it seems much better so hopefully something is working. I asked my gp for any other ideas her response was keep doing what your doing, not much of an answer I should have just posted on here.
I will checkout the info you gave me and I appreciate it very much.
Thanks

A numbers of specialist that i have spoken to said ‘ Stay away from the Selsun products for dandruff ‘

I have a very itchy scalp which drives me crazy…but have put off adding it to my list of numerous health issues to discuss with my GP.

I’m suffering all sorts of strange and unexpected medical issues since turning 60 lol.

I might just try your olive oil and Tee Tree oil mixed with peppermint oil and leave it in.

I’m off to India at the end of the month, and as nobody knows me there i’ll be free to cover myself in this concoction!

yes noted…that’s what a number of specialist advised.
Do not use for scalp.

Interesting. I use the essential oils and that’s what they recommended. I wonder why they advised not to use it on the scalp?

I’m wondering if it associated with nerves and anxiety?
