@fdixon63 I know something was used as a numbing agent when I had my cystoscopy and it may have been the numbing gel that your doctor’s office has said would be used. I was sure the procedure would hurt but I felt no pain. If it helps you feel better to take a strong painkiller - and even a tranquilizer, I am sure your doctor will prescribe either or both for you. But take something prescribed by your doctor - don’t medicate yourself.
