@fdixon63 I understand your wanting to take some medicine before the cystoscopy. As a nurse, I’d caution against doing so. You really don’t want some medication in your system that the doctor hasn’t ordered and/or doesn’t know about. I would suggest calling the doctor’s office and speaking to a nurse. You can ask her if taking the medication is ok. She can also inform the doctor and write it in your chart. What do you think the doctor might say to your request?

@becsbuddy. Thanks for the wisdom. The reason I want to take hydrocodone before the cystoscopy is as stated before. I understand your point though. As lay people it seems to be OK to take the hydrocodone but the medical staff needs to be aware. I did send a portal message asking about sedation, etc. The reply was they will use a numbing jelly and that's it. She said the whole thing goes so quickly that it will be OK. We'll see... Two more days to wait. Thanks for everyone's input.
