Absolutely! She feels she is in very competent hands. I definitely think she made the right decision to go to Mayo. I just worry if the Doctor's think she needs surgery again, she is so far from home. However I remain hopeful that all will go smoothly whether it is radiation, proton beam, or surgery. Thanks for thinking of us. Nancy
I am very worried about the possibility of my sister having surgery at Mayo when she lives in Atlanta. She had complications after her first surgery and had to have surgery twice more due to a hospital induced infection. I have confidence in the Docs at Mayo but she will not have me or any family there to visit and comfort her. Her appointment is with Dr. Burns on August 9th. Dr O'Neill told her one of the tumors on the right had grown 30% in one month. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Nancy

2 ReactionsMine is left sphenoid wing meningioma. Wrapped around ocular motor nerves and left carotid artery. I keep telling my doc, I could really use the extra blood flow to my brain. I told him I coukd be borderline a genius if I my carotid wasn’t so squished.

1 ReactionRestorevision.com post tumor optic nerve treatment
Hi barbara. I just posted something for you to google. What ever your decision is maybe they can help restore some of your vision loss
Yep, my breast cancer found on routine mammogram while still small .....so nasty a grade and very fast growing type, when Mayo took it out (with good margins), they said I could have been dead in a year if it hadn't been found! We are warriors because we have fantastic medical care to keep us kicking! But we have to do our checkups to find such things 🙂

1 ReactionHi and Welcome. You and I are in a similar boat, one of my 5+ tumors is in my sphenoid wing, and in the bone and tumor and bone are pressing on my optic nerve and have been for at least 7+ years. I did have that one excised as much as possible and the rest radiated. I can see pretty good considering. I just did gamma knife on the tumor on the left side and I'm a fan of radiation versus surgery, although I've had 2. We are definitely strong warriors and a good sense of humor doesn't hurt as well:-) All my best to you. peg

1 ReactionLindajean I read somewhere that the meningiomas could be caused, though not proven, by trauma to the brain I saw you mention in one of your earlier posts that you had a bad accident years ago. I was in a car crash where my head hit the windshield. Not that it matters really but I wonder if there is a corrilation. Have you ever been tested for the nf2 gene? Is there any family history of similar issues?
